Samsung Vibrant launching today, awaits new owners in T-Mobile's online store

Jul 15th 2010 6:37PM (Engadget)
@audiogod69

I was asking a sales rep at T-mobile about the lack of in-store advertising for the Galaxy S (while watching the incredible looking Avatar movie on the phone of course ) and he said it was because they don't have enough units in stock to advertise it fully, so it was more of a "soft launch." That makes sense, since Samsung is experiencing a bit of an AMOLED shortage right now.

At least that leaves enough in stock for us geeks to come by and pick it up on launch day.

Went to a T-Mobile store today and they reps said they had a few in stock. I asked why none were on display, and the rep said "it's more of a soft launch, so if you know about it, you can come down and get one. We don't have enough in stock to do full advertising for it yet."

So if you want one and don't want to buy it online, check out your T-Mobile store

Sprint lines up Epic 4G against the competition, likes its chances

@Tuan X You do realize you're arguing that a piece of Sprint's promotional campaign is a little biased towards Sprint, right?

Just checking to make sure. Also, would you care to look into Tide's claims that Tide gets clothes cleaner than the competing brands? Thanks that would be a huge help.

iPhone 4 or EVO 4G: which one should you get?

Jun 26th 2010 3:53AM (Engadget)
@elfeffer Yes. $80 for unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier. plus, nights start at 7 pm instead of 9 pm (like it matters). I have the same plan on my palm pre (though it's $70 because of no 3G) and I swear to god I use zero minutes despite the number of friends I call.

Also, if you have a working .edu address (from college or whatnot), give customer service a call after setting up your account and they'll sign you up for 15% off the bill. Worked for me. Apple might have that too.

@hated one Who cares how many phones each has sold? What does that matter? does it make your signal any stronger? If anything, it would make it harder for you to get a signal, with all the people cramming the airwaves.

Does it make your phone any faster? no.

Does it make the iPhone any less of a restricted platform? no.

Does it make you any less of a fanboy? no.

Hey Apple, you're holding it wrong

Jun 26th 2010 3:39AM (Engadget)
@Cold Dead Fingers wow calm the frak down.

If Jobs (and therefore Apple) tells us that we should "stop holding it like that," why would their video clearly show people holding it exactly like the way they tell us not to? Sure, none of the pictures actually show stuff that requires 3G (probably), but you can't tell me with a straight face that holding the phone like that while browsing the web (on 3G, on the road) isn't a legitimate way to use your phone.

Ergonomics dictates that the phone fits the human, and not the other way around. If you really, SERIOUSLY think that Apple and its engineering/design staff are not at fault and that people either hold it differently or buy their bullshit rubber bumper, then you're beyond help.

I'm sure they still think the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone every. That hasn't changed. it's just the best smartphone ever with a design flaw. Those aren't mutually exclusive.

FUCKING LOGIC, HOW DOES IT WORK?!

It's worth keeping in mind that under Sprint, you don't use up minutes when making a call to other mobile phones (which, I'll bet, is about 90% of your calls... at least for most of you). not to mention free minutes starting at 7 pm, instead of 9 pm

I have the plan with my Palm Pre, and at the end of the month when i check on my usage, it says "Minutes used: 0/450"

Either way, if something better doesn't come out by august, I'm getting an EVO

@kyphem You don't want an unresponsive screen while you're texting and driving?

how about NOT TEXTING WHILE DRIVING?

I agree with you, I don't want an unresponsive screen either, but COME ON. Driving while texting? really?
