Team Meat bashes MS, Zen Studios hits Meat, both have lunch date in Bay Area

Sep 9th 2011 4:33PM (Joystiq)
I can understand them being a little disappointed if Microsoft didn't do certain things they promised to do, if that is indeed the case. Either way though, they got plenty of marketing push on the dashboard and that's certainly no less promotion than they got on Steam. Their hyperbole certainly doesn't help the situation either and just makes them look bad.

In the end, you can't blame Microsoft alone for SMB selling significantly less on the 360 than it did on Steam. It could just be your average Xbox 360 player doesn't enjoy a frustratingly hard platformer, no matter what window dressing it has. I could be that more people waited for it on Steam because they prefer mouse + keyboard to controller for such a game. It could be any number of things.

What I think would be interesting to see is the profit sharing on Xbox vs. Steam and see on which platform Team Meat made more per copy sold. My instinct is Steam but I have no stats to back that up. In that case, and with the supposedly grueling certification process, Team Meat may have some legitimate gripes, but comparing it to a stay in a concentration camp makes them look childish and insensitive.

Detroit prosecutor updates (makes relevant) violent games list

I'm kind of proud to own 7 of the 10 games on that list now. Does someone dare challenge my title of 'most depraved' by having more?

Konami: 'We're actively looking' into MGS4 on Xbox 360

Oct 14th 2008 6:40PM (Joystiq)
I can't say I'm surprised after the FFXIII announcement. I mean, if that CG fest can be hacked up and made to work on however many DVD-9s, why not MGS4? There could be an option to install the full game to save load times maybe. Hell, might actually be the first good reason to bother owning an Elite with a 120GB HDD. I originally bought my PS3 solely to play MGS4 and as a result, this information is a little annoying but I have to say it (the PS3) is an amazing piece of kit and it's good for a distraction whenever my 360 needs to be repaired/replaced, like right now.

TGS 08: Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer impressions

Bioshock will probably go down as one of the great games of this generation and it's a 'lost exclusive' for the 360. How do I, as a 360 owner, feel about that? Mostly apathetic but also a little happy that more people will enjoy and buy a great game that deserves as much success it can get and as much clout as it can give Ken Levine and Irrational (I refuse to recognize the new name).

She looks like a crazy-bitch librarian. The resemblance to Palin made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Wow, those new vids are horrible compared to the classic insanity of the first ones Busey did for them, like the one where he laughs like a fucking mental patient.

Blow explains dilemma of Braid's price to 1Up

Aug 8th 2008 12:16AM (Joystiq)
One niche game selling for $5 more than your average XBLA game isn't enough to set a precedent. That said, you have to understand the logic here. Price points aren't something done without any basis. There is a very definable unit price to unit sales ratio and finding the balance is key in your marketplace. Based on their research, they estimated that this is a niche title and that the profit made by charging $15 is more than enough to offset the number of people who would have bought it at $10 but not at $15. You can't just arbitrarily say that "cheaper game = more sales = more profit". If that was the case, every Wii game ever made should be outselling any and all 360 and PS3 games. There is a formula involved and obviously they think it's worth it to them to take the chance with a higher price. If they are wrong and the game sells past their expectations, there is no downside for them. If it undersells, they can always lower the price later and try to get the stragglers. Again, this doesn't set a precedent.
