As a side note, this better not be just a port, I want to see zoe mode make a game where the 3D is a necessary part of the gameplay with this.

Jan 18th 2011 5:33PM (Joystiq)I thought the combat is mostly fun in the turn off my brain and just let instinct take control kind of way, and if you bump up the difficulty to max, then the dodge becomes more than a faster and sillier way to get places. Either way, the system is average at best, and the scene in KH 2 where you are locked in an area and forced to fight 1000 enemies in a row is probably the most boring part of any game I have ever played.
I actually kind of liked the platforming as well, the jumping was fun once I adjusted to the camera (and probably because I had played quite a few terrible PS1 and N64 plat formers in the years before playing KH) and you could sort of fly, even if it just revealed how depressingly small the worlds were.
I just hope that since they can't use the excuse of the game being "for kids", that the dev team will nut up and make an interesting system that actually succeeds at what seems to have been their ambition to make the Final Fantasy style of menu driven combat actually work real time.

Jan 18th 2011 5:11PM (Joystiq)Good point, I probably should have said that, hopefully, FFvXII will have less of those things because talentless hacks aren't trying to write a story for a concept that has so much potential but needs to be executed flawlessly to work. Hopefully, it will simply be the sort of garden variety meh of TWEWY. At least I won't need to cringe as beloved characters from my childhood spout idiocy about friendship and believing in yourself that even Disney didn't force them to say.
Also, I have noticed an unusual paucity of belts in the trailer, and this gives me hope for some reason.
