They seem to be releasing dlc every two weeks and there is a fairly major patch in January, fixing some of the few niggling problems (like the lives in riff repeater) the game launched with.

Wrong. The dynamic difficulty doesn't hurt the game at all. When you start out, you are playing only a few notes, on a slowed down note track. As you play well, it adds more notes and speeds up, until you are playing the full thing.

It certainly doesn't hurt the learning process at all, and does help a lot. I've been playing guitar terribly for 5 years without getting much practice in. I've been playing Rocksmith almost every day since release in October, and in those twoish months I've gotten better at guitar than I've ever been able to advance in those five years. What makes Rocksmith brilliant is it makes practicing FUN
