Fez on WiiWare not 'worth our time and effort,' dev says

@Red Runner
Agreed, but the reason any developer actively discourages people from sending game ideas is the sticky intellectual property situation. They don't want to get into a lawsuit with someone who claims their idea was stolen, or they weren't compensated properly. That's why ever developer will only consider game ideas developed internally.

Fez on WiiWare not 'worth our time and effort,' dev says

What an arrogant prick. I've been really interested in this game since PAX, and have been really wanting it when it come out, but nevermind. I own a Wii, and XBox 360, and a PS3, and there's no question Nintendo's platform for indie games is the worst, both on the consumer and the developer end. But this guy sounds like he's projecting his own ignorant distaste for Nintendo onto WiiWare, and in a very immature way. In response to the question he could have been much more professional, saying that he doesn't feel Nintendo's platform suits his creative and financial needs at this point, rather than resorting to insults and distorted half-truths.

I wasn't even planning on getting it for WiiWare if it WAS released on it (I find the 360 controller feels better for a lot of these indie platformers), but now I just have a distaste for the whole thing and won't be getting it at all. You lost a sale, Mr. Fish.

The Conduit sales fizzle in late-June debut

@tmacairjordan87: What are you talking about? The Conduit looks very good for a Wii game. In fact, the 2 things just about every review of the game singled out for praise were the graphics and the controls. Why on earth do you think the developer wouldn't put the same effort in graphics and controls on the 360 or PS3? And if you're saying the game design has issues, well, then it'd fit right at home on the 360 and PS3, chocked full of beautiful yet vapid games.

Can I also point out that both MadWorld and House of the Dead Overkill have sold decently, despite neither of them having gotten a Japanese release yet? I'm not saying they busted the chains or anything, or that the Japanese market is going to double sales, I'm just supporting what someone said earlier, these games are actually selling pretty well overall, that just doesn't make headlines. "Hardcore Wii title actually sells decently, despite sensationalist expectations from non-journalists!"

I didn't buy it because, I'm sorry, I'm not spending $50 on that game. I'm poor, so video games fit in when they can, and I'll probably pick this up much later down the line after a price drop. And get it used. And it was MadWorld that did it to me. It was fun, but extraordinarily shallow, not worth anywhere near $50, and I don't want to get burned like that again. Not happening.

Madmen completing every Mario game for charity

Hey, OK, I supposed I deserve the abuse, but seriously, I was just talking about these guys and analyzing their methods.

Haha, yeah you can buddy, you're the 3rd reply to a post by a guy who was being a dick and has no life. When you're nested that deeply in a comments section on a news post about Mario marathoning for charity, on a video game blog, then you're not exactly in a position to be making yourself look all high and mighty.

Actually, yeah, Super Mario Land 2 was on the easier side of most Mario games, although the final castle where you find Wario was pretty challenging. Super Mario Land 1 was much more difficult, in my opinion. Super Mario Sunshine was fairly easy if you just wanted to cruise by and get the obvious Shines, but if you wanted all of them, especially the blue coin shines, good god that could get frustrating. And then Lost Levels, the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, that game is just a hardcore dick. What with the poison mushrooms, warp zones that send you BACK to earlier worlds, invisible blocks, jumps that must be assisted by the wind, and the numerous leaps of faith you had to make with no idea where, or on what, you would land. And then the final castle, having to fight Bowser twice in a row, ugh.

Yeah, I know, overreacted a bit, but seriously, this is like guys washing windows for charity. And not even your windows, their OWN windows. They could have marathoned a more difficult series, like the Ghosts 'n' Goblins series. Or done speed runs on all the Metroid games. But it's for a good cause.

Whoopty doo! I mean, it's good they're doing this for charity, and have been raising a lot of money, but this is by no means an impressive feat. I did the same thing shortly before Super Mario Galaxy came out (and then including Galaxy once it did). I played every single level, got every single star/shine. Except I played ALL of the Mario games, including the Japanese Super Mario Brothers 2 (far and away the hardest game in the series), Super Mario Land 1 and 2, and New Super Mario Bros. When Twilight Princess came out I marathoned all the Zelda games, 100% completion, and when Metroid Prime 3 came out I marathoned all the Metroid games, 100% completion.
