In developers defenses, making couch coop for a game is no easy task. it takes (almost) double the rendering power because the world has to be rendered twice. That being said, games like uncharted 3 and killzone managed to do it, though they had much longer development times and higher budgets.

I'm not saying it's not awful, but it's entirely possible that the character was inclueded on disc, but was too unbalanced to release her in the actual game, so they just hid the character (because it would be more expensive to get rid of it completely)

This trailer really doesnt do it any favors either. The original PSP version was the hardest puzzler i've ever played, and the mechanic is so fresh and so awesome.
