Oct 20th 2008 7:11PM (Engadget)Get this. I try to upgrade my iphone 2G into a 3G (sorry for bringing the iphone into this) at an apple store. It turns out I have a hold on my account. But the connection people don't know why and they cant remove it. They tell apple associate to have me call CS and find out and get it removed. I call they tell me I dont have any holds, apple person speaks with them, apple rep is reassured that its a mistake and asked to call back.
He does and gets told of att I still have a hold, they try to push the phone upgrade through. No good.
I call ATT while apple rep is on the phone with ATT himself. I teld them what Im told and they still can't find it. Call gets disconnected.
try again, new rep, call gets disconected,
Try again new rep he finds the hold but doesn't know what it is, tries to escalate it to supervisor, call gets dropped.
Call again, and mind you each time I call I have to go through the automated service and then once I reconnect, I have to explain the problem all over because no rep will escalate it or transfer me even though I tell them to what department unless I tell them everything all over again.
Finally get someone that knows on the line.
It turns out that somehow in some weird bizarro sort of way, the fact that I was a getting a paper bill at my house was preventing me from getting the phone. Once they removed this "Feature" as they called it from my account I was able to purchase a phone. And this only took them a grand total of 3 hours.
This was just me trying to buy a new phone
So yeah, ATT worst service ever.
Now on to those tech support calls and trouble shooting.....
