Glider was a pretty popular bot back in the day. They charged about 7-14$ for each subscription. I wouldn't doubt the guy made a a couple million off it. I think they settled for much less though.
Same here, I was about 8 or 9 at the time when the pokemon fad hit big. Used to go to the tournaments around the city and the leagues at Toys R Us. I remember dragging my whole family to Toys R Us just to get a better change at scoring that mew card. I managed to get 1 on my Pokemon Blue and then I used a memory duplicator cartridge to make infinite mews to sell/trade to people at the pokemon league. Hustling since age 9. Good times.
The community is AO was definitely one of the nicest. Although you would find the occasional quarrals between PvPers in certain areas who liked to show off who was the better "twink". I myself would stand at the newbie starter zones like the original Backyards until they came out with the Jobe starter zone and then finally the Alien starter island. I would sit there and approach new comers and answer their questions and reward them with a backpack full of starter newbie items like a medsuit for implants, an NCU belt with memories, some starter weapons, and a few thousand credits to get them started. I always tried to make someones stay in AO as nice as possible since the game began on a downward slope, I just hope my assistance kept as many active players as possible.
Nothing will ever compare to my experience in AO. It is the pinnacle of the MMO sci-fi genre, it has outlasted so many generations and it continues to be one of those games that I love despite it's bugs or it's horrible managment and employees. Yes I am talking to you Genevra.
Well it's supposed to be a spiritual successor to Blood Gulch. Which Coagulation was aswell but honestly they should just bring back BLOOD GULCH. I hate these remakes, all they keep doing is doubling the size of the map and adding more rocks and foliage. Halo is not Halo without Blood Gulch.
Energy weapons take out drop shields much easier. One banshee rocket will blow it up. Hell, even 2 plasmas can take it out rather quickly. The shield also recieves more damage from the inside/out rather than outside/in. Also it's more like 2 tank shots. You must be encountering "shield stackers" which is a popular oddball tactic.
There should be a 3 strike system, forgive or penalize. If a player forgives you, then no strike is added. If you are penalized then a message should pop saying "Betrayal Strike #" 3 Strikes and you are out. Kill 3 enemy players and 1 strike is removed.
Then theres the problem of players constantly shooting someone in the back with a plasma pistol or any gun just to lower the teammates shields. It happened to me constantly in a game the other day. Some douche was just shooting me only to take out shields and aggravate me.
There should be a Team Damage Pool. If you deal damage to a teammate then you will rack up a damage pool on the left side of your screen. The pool will then slowly decline overtime if you dont hurt anyone else. About 10% per 5 seconds. At the end of the game, the amount of Team Damage Pool determines how much your credits are penalized, by 0.5 for every 1%. 200% Team Damage = -100 credits etc..
Up to 300% accumalitive damage should end in a booting. Noone should be able to deal that much friendly damage in 1 game unless they are doing it on purpose.
