In Intel's future we wear computers, still have to work and exercise

Apr 14th 2007 4:42AM (Engadget)
I'm sorry, but looking at this, I can't help but wish Microsoft would die already. Don't get me wrong, all I use is windows, but I can't begin to imagine a future like this with a company like Microsoft being the ones that dictate where we are heading computer wise. Their monopolistic ways are doing everything to prevent any competition and after 5 YEARS, the best the where able to do is that bloated crapfest called Vista (I bought it and have it installed on a dual Xeon with 4 gigs and found it slow as hell compared to XP, I'm actually returning to XP and tossing vista in a drawer somewhere).

For something like this vid to happen we would need lite, responsive applications, one designed by designers, designers with Vision... and not a “copy what’s been done” mentality.

But like I say... with the things the way they are now, it won't happen. I don't own a mac, but I can only hope the start selling like crazy, so this future can become possible.

Colin McRae DIRT video proves... dirt is cool.

Now that the whole force feedback "fiasco" is over. I hope this game will include force feedback on the PS3 version. If not, it would be so lame, even in this video you can see the drivers fighting with their steering wheels as to taunt us, hehe.

I plan to get a PS3 in a week or 2, is it true that the ps2 wheels work on the PS3 ? I have the Logitech Driving Force Pro and it would be awesome if it worked.

Tyan's 40 CPU Core Personal Supercomputer -- now shipping

Mar 22nd 2007 10:38AM (Engadget)
Am I the only one that is pissed off when people get it wrong ?!

10 x quad-core doesn't equal 40 CPUs ?! Even the Source of the article had it right, it equals 40 Cores or still just 10 CPUs.

I've seen Computers stores try to push the same crap to mislead customers and I hate it.

Depending on the ranking on my post I'll see if its all in my head, hehe

More yummy details surface on ATI's R600 offerings

Mar 16th 2007 7:30AM (Engadget)
If only ATI would fix there OpenGL drivers, then these cards would be great for professional applications. But for now Nvidia still remains the king in my book for that simple fact. After purchassing a XT1900 and realizing that some important applications where "freaking out" simply because of the lack of proper OpenGL drivers I had to return it and get a Nvidia card.

I know that there FireGL line of cards doesn't have that problem... but I'm not gonna spend 5x the price for the same cards with better drivers... :(

At least Nvidia doesn't cripple there "game" cards so they can still be used for professional applications.

PS3 price increase in Canada?!

I too agree that it's probably a retailer decision. But I still find it good that people talk about it, for the simple reason that people will know not to buy it at those 2 retailers.

I know that these store are the place most people go when buying electronics, so I'm sure the console was selling well there and they simply decided to Screw their customers. So now, thankfully, it blew up in their face. :D

Sony has Ghostbusters vids and info pulled

I was just about to chime in with what Kev just said. They must have spent a ton of money working on that thing, they never once thought to themselves..."gee, what if we don't get the rights to use this ?!" I'm sure the banks and others that loaned them the money for this must have asked the same exact question. Lol

I get a feeling this might never see the light of day and Zoomfly will just go belly up... :|

MS wants simultaneous Vista & 360 releases

Jan 25th 2007 3:27AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Well this means I'm not getting any more games for my 360...

What the fuck is wrong with Microsoft ?! Why would we buy games that are uglier and more expensive than their PC counterpart ?!

Just look at Oblivion, I bought it without hesitation for the 360 only to regret it immensely when I saw what the mod community had achieve with the PC version. It looked 10 times better and yet was less expensive?! I vowed that day to never buy a game on the 360 if it had a PC version. Now they want to make this mandatory ?

Looks like I need to buy a PS3

Matrox unveils Extio F1220 remote graphics extender

Jan 25th 2007 3:11AM (Engadget)
If this supported 30" monitors and 3D capabilities I'd buy this in an instant :|
I would love to have my work station in another room to finally have some peace and quiet while working.

As ttv mentionned, since it has usb 2, it simple to plug in a usb optical drive. Thats what I already do now, just for the ease of use (and lasiness, I admit it :p) to have the dvd drive sitting on the table, for easy access.

Gates: PS3 will never have graphics advantage

Jan 11th 2007 4:49PM (Joystiq Xbox)
You people realize that by saying that a bigger hard drive isn't necessary, as the IPTV media will be on a "server", he means that we will need a IPTV PVR, and the xbox will be nothing more than a media extender, kinda like it can do with Media Center now.

So Basically, all this "XBOX can do IPTV" was all BULLSHIT from the start.

Why in god's name would I want to use the XBOX to control my PVR, if I have it sitting next to it ?! It could be practical if I had the PVR in another room, but this was very misleading and stupid on their part. Since we assumed we could save up on having to buy a damn PVR.

As for the drive, at least gives us the option to remove the 7 gigs of crap that placed on it. I bought a 20 gig drive, not 13..

Assholes

Rumor: Xbox IPTV may not be so grand

Jan 9th 2007 3:20AM (Joystiq Xbox)
hum, I don't get what people are so bummed about ?! This is what I fully understood from what was given so far. Microsoft had said they where working with different Telco companies that would set up local IPTV networks. Obviously this means changing cable provider if the one you have isn't providing IPTV. The only thing I'm surprised with, is the need for a separate Set top box. But again, no biggie, if you wanted to have IPTV you'd have to have a set top box anyways. Now we can just probably get a cheap one and have the XBOX serve as the PVR, instead of getting an expensive IPTV PVR.

I for one can't wait, as my cable distributor is simply horrible (Videotron) and the IPTV service will be offered by it's competitor, which before only offered Satellite dish service (Bell).
