A Woman's Perspective on Video Games

Jun 8th 2010 11:31AM (Asylum)
I donno, I guess I just don't see this as a parody, especially because it's not really that funny and uses cliche, outdated stereotypes. I suggest you check out Sarah Haskins where she does a bit called "Target Women."

Sims 3 console trailer exposes the dark nature of humanity

Actually, the Sims series has been show to be very popular with women, probably being part of the reason why it's one of the most popular game series' ever.

A Woman's Perspective on Video Games

As a female gamer myself, I was horrified by this video that she posted. I mean, yes I like the more hardcore games and I like open landscape games where you have to wander around, but that doesn't even matter. What I had an issue with is that she makes it seem like females are 'superior' in that ladies figured out that games are stupid (pissing in a bottle? come on!) and we "don't like to figure s**t out." WTF... way to make our whole gender sound stupid there. So, you're saying women are stupid and want to take the easy way out and play the simple games because newer games are too 'complex' or 'hard' for them to understand? Way to set feminism back years. Oh, and yes there are women who use the 'female gamer' status as sex appeal and take naked photos of themselves, but that isn't the normal female gamer.

Also, yes you may be a female just as I am, but you do not speak for the 'woman's perspective on games' at all. Maybe if you actually played games you could speak on the matter and stop picking on the male and female people who actually like playing difficult and more recent games that challenge you and make you actually use your brain instead of vegging out in front of a tv.

Survey determines average U.S. game developer income

Heh, you make me laugh when you say $38k is paltry. I make $25k after taxes and I live in the Boston area and I have a nice apartment and eat well and I still save a bunch of money each month. It's called not living beyond your means and actually giving a damn about saving money and not buying expensive shit all the time.

I would love to get these books as I am an aspiring game artist/level designer and am working on getting a job in the industry right now. These would be very useful and well loved :)

What Is That? Microscopic Pyramid Spider

Oh, and to explain what a bacteriophage is better...
The top part is filled with genetic material that the phage injects into bacteria. When the genetic material is inside the bacteria, either it integrates with the bacterium's DNA (when it's dormant) and then eventually bursts open the bacterium, spreading it's DNA even further and destroying the bacterium.

It's a pretty cool organism that is worked on being used in medicine right now to inject certain DNA into the human body and also to be used to destroy certain bacteria.

For those of you who remember high school biology and have taken it within the last 15 years or so, that is totally a bacteriophage...

Actually, I had the opposite. I could never find any element zero but I had all the other element sin abundance (like 30k)
