no xvid/divx playback... thats too bad, luckily it looks like Ps3 will pick up the slack here. I guess it was too good to be true when it was rumoured.... as an aside, LOL @ WMV playback. What a useless feature, who the hell cares about that? Its just as useless as PS3 playing ATRAC.

Well Anubis, I agree about the 'every few minutes' comment, that was pretty exaggerated. Still you will be switching discs, I bet more than 4 times. Nothing has been confirmed about the GT-HD pricing, and I don't believe Sony will nickel and dime users like M$ does at every turn. Kojima has huge loyalty to Sony, they have enabled him to take the MGS series beyond what anyone though possible. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on these and many other points though, my arguments stand as they are (except the disc change thing).

This will never happen, Kojima-san owes way too much to Sony to stab them in the back like this, his honour would be tarnished forever and the Japanese care deeply about their honour.

Besides, who would want to play a stripped down MGS with only 3/8 of the detail/enemies on screen, running only in 720p, with downgraded sound and having to switch discs every few minutes... not to mention being nickel and dimed to death with microtransactions for 'extra' content? Thats like hoping a 4:3 pan/scan version of a masterpiece like Blade Runner or Lawrence of Arabia comes out.. lol.

Nah... MGS4 will be a PS3 exclusive masterpiece, and frankly anyone who wants to see Kojima-san's masterpiece as he intended, would want it to stay that way...

Anna, thats probably because steps were taken to control its export... besides that, how would we know if someone actually did use the PS2 innards for missile guidance systems? Its not like they would slap a big "powered by sony' sticker on the side, and if the missiles haven't been used yet, then there would be no way for the average Jane to know. As for the current article, its not hype or bs as some here dismiss it, the article is from a respected military technology blog, and they are concerned about this possibility.

Just imagine if some country made a low cost new UAV design, with one 'master' UAV that did all the targetting/communications, with a Cell Broadband Engine onboard, and 7 smaller bomb-carrying 'slave' UAVs, each controlled by a PPE. They could build a force of these on the cheap, and leapfrog what the US has, despite its bloated runaway defense budget.

Not that this would neccessarily be a bad thing, it might put a damper on the apparently irresistible urge to bomb any country the US government disagrees with back into the stone age, but I digress ;)

Looks like Ninty is throwing around the marketing $$$, taking a page out of M$'s playbook. ITs at least good to see them loosen the pursestrings a bit and start spending some of those massive profits theyve been making lately.

Am I the only one who thinks these graphics don't really look much better than halo 2 level? I guess I just think they are pretty underwhelming compared to what PS3 will have out by that time, titles like MGS, Killzone, Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy, etc...

this is exactly the problem with Wii, people are WAY overestimating how useful/revolutionary/fun the controller will be, because it *HAS* to be. Otherwise the system is just gamecube+, strip away the controller and there's nothing 'new' left. Anyone who is honest with themselves will admit that ninty could have just sold the controller for ~$100 and had identical gameplay.

Last 2 ads were badass, this one looks like something Cliffy B would make. lame.
