10 things wrong with the iPhone, from someone who has never used one

Jun 17th 2007 8:39PM (TUAW.com)
Yeah, I wonder how many of these actually will turn out to be an issue, and how many of these are issue with other smartphones too. I have trouble texting without looking at the screen anyway, so that's not going to be a problem for me.

I'm really looking forward to reading real reviews of the iPhone, but I wonder when those are embargoed till. The 29th, or earlier?

Apple web site features teaser shot

Man, that graphic makes my wallet yelp. But this time I might actually be able to afford it if they bring out something cool. Goodbye Christmas bonus.

Extra points leak out of Wii Shop Channel (Wii annoyance #006)

Nov 27th 2006 7:21PM (Joystiq)
So why isn't this also one of the X360 Annoyances? It's the same sort of deal on the 360, especially when it comes to buying a prepaid card (Microsoft only offers a 1600-point version at retail). The only difference, at the moment, is that there are a lot of smaller things you can buy on 360 and you can't do that yet on the Wii. Otherwise, the systems are the same. At least with Wii 100 points = $1, unlike Microsoft Points which get really damn confusing after awhile.

When is the real Emergence Day?

Nov 8th 2006 5:25PM (Joystiq)
Local Gamestop here had run out of Collector's Editions by the time I got there. So they gave me a regular edition and told me they'd call me when they got the rest of their allotted Coll. Ed. shipment in and would exchange it. Let's see if they really do it. Honestly I don't think I'll be that broken up if I don't get a Collector's Edition.

Apple updates .Mac webmail

Oct 27th 2006 12:20AM (TUAW.com)
I like to leave my webmail logged in at work, with Google and .Mac open. Problem is, .mac logs me out after 15 or so minutes so I keep having to log back in. I wish they'd at least give you the option to set the amount of time before you're auto logged-out. I don't want to save my personal passwords in my work keychains so I end up having to type in my password each time. :'(

Best Buy PS3 and Wii rollout plans?

Sep 27th 2006 10:13PM (Joystiq)
Those are completely fake. There was another slide, too, that claimed to show where the PS3 kiosks would be. But the floor plan on the slide was of some public library, not a best buy.

Analysts criticize Japanese PS3 price drop

Sep 22nd 2006 8:06PM (Joystiq)
It's bad for Sony's stockholders since it assures that the company will lose more money on PS3 than even originally anticipated, hence the reaction from analysts. But it is very good for consumers. They obviously felt they needed to do it in Japan to combat pressure from Nintendo, but you'll watch their stock really fall if they drop the price in the US. What's clear is that Sony will sell out this year regardless of the price. If they don't have to lose another $100 per system, why should they? (Purely from the point of view of Sony's financial health, that is. This is great for Japanese consumers.)

Sony's trainwreck of a keynote [update 1]

Sep 22nd 2006 3:23AM (Joystiq)
Even though the conference was obviously terrible, awful, and an appalling waste of time, what are the chances that it's going to have any discernible effect on PS3 sales? I'd say nil. Any negative impacts it had were done away with by saying HDMI would be included in the low-end model and dropping the Japanese price. The rest will be completely forgotten as TGS opens, people play the games and the Internet is flooded with media from everything at the show.

Sony apparently feels it does not have to play catch-up with anyone. It's sad, but I almost think they're right. Their game lineup is very hard to beat. They probably could've announced a price increase for the US model and they'd still sell out of consoles on Nov. 17.

Microsoft on Wii: Who does No. 2 work for? [update 1]

Sep 21st 2006 3:47PM (Joystiq)
It's actually priced more accordingly to be a lot more people's No. 1 console, but whatever Peter! Nintendo didn't play ball with him on Wii60 so now he's soured on them. Not surprising, considering the mainstream press attention Nintendo will undoubtedly get building up to Nov. 19.

Ubisoft "accidentally" leaks tons of assets

Sep 21st 2006 3:07PM (Joystiq)
The posts lambasting the spelling mistakes on the leaked Assassin's Creed pause screen might demoralize the team so much that they can't continue. Perfectly reasonable assumption to make.
