I don't know what to think. Bioware still heavily favors the use of dialog trees in their projects. They are even doing it in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the DS.
Mobile games tend to favor simple time wasters that you can play for a few minutes to relieve stress.
The No Punctuation format has gotten stale because it is so formulaic. Game reviews aren't an ideal entertainment medium. They are better used as an informative tool. These reviews would be much more interesting to watch if they didn't cover high profile games that everyone has debated to death.
This trend is hardly surprising. Computer related degrees have a very demanding workload. Very few people actually enjoy programming since it is very tedious detail-oriented work that can drive you insane during debugging. Jobs often oscillate between crushing boredom and feverish deadlines. It is very rare to reach a happy medium. The workplace can easily turn hostile because of the stressful nature of the careers.
When the .com bubble burst, many people were forced to change careers and never looked back. It is hard to return because computer technology keeps advancing, raising skill requirements.
Successfully forcing another console cycle sets a bad precedent. Many console gamers do not want the same stupid technology arms race that has plagued PC gaming for years. PC gaming is finally starting to ease up on the tech race.
All hope for this game isn't lost. As long as the sales don't plummet from week to week, this game will still be in good shape in the long term. This will be especially true if the price drops.
PA wasn't anything special. It's basically regurgitating what goes on joystiq when people get into a heated discussion about review scores. Please stop beating the dead horse. We already know that some people get riled up by review scores.
I voted for 2PStart because it pinpoints an often ignored contradiction. Contradictions are funny.
He is spinning the data. People aren't exactly thrilled with the brand. They are just grudgingly accepting the problems because they don't have any other choice. The Xbox 360 has the games and online features they want.
The situation is like a kid who is forced to eat a despised vegetable so that he or she can eat their favorite dessert. The kid is frustrated but caves in.
The successor to the 360 will be a much harder sell as many will probably take a wait and see approach.
The Tales series has always been an action-RPG hybrid since it's start on the SNES.
Getting rid of turned based combat isn't a simple matter. RPGs gained popularity because they didn't require a high level of skill and reflexes to play. Adding more action elements that require skill dilutes the elements that separated RPGs from other genres.
