QuickPick update in limbo for Lion similarities
Apr 8th 2011 5:40PM (TUAW.com)I mean this came out BEFORE Apple announced the feature would come out in lion.
Based on this, Apple could decide to bundle in any 'feature' or app and then ban an app that was similar.
Would Open Office or a browser be banned from the app store because Apple has similar app?
Should you buy an iPad 2? Here's what the reviews say...

Sep 25th 2010 2:59PM (TUAW.com)There is no "regional regulation". Each country is different.
There are no voip restrictions in Qatar for example.
Yes apple didn't consult the carriers.
@ibeartouch, who are 'they'?
Apple did this on their own. The iPhones that they send to the middle east have the feature removed.
FaceTime goes missing in Saudi Arabia, much of Middle East
Sep 22nd 2010 3:59AM (TUAW.com)In Qatar shariah law applies to civil issues only. Did you even bother to check the site to see how progressive Qatar is?
And re women restrictions, again come and check out Qatar. Qatar supports equality in the work place, women have no less rights than men here, in fact even more!

Sep 21st 2010 2:10AM (TUAW.com)Just sad that people lump all countries together in terms of stereotype just because they are in the middle east, that's like saying Germany, France, and Italy are the same because they are in Europe. :(

Sep 21st 2010 2:08AM (TUAW.com)We WILL and DOES have face time and it's the update of the image is not an Islamic issue.We have women used in most adverts. The image was most probably changed because it's easier to have a generic image than changing the image for each country.
(despite middle eastern countries being predominantly Muslim, they are all different from cultural norms and the populations in the GCC have many different religions)
@Paul, it is not against Islam to show someone face, not all women cover their hair as well.
Some people suggested that the image was removed because the hair was showing. That might be an issue for Saudi I don't know but for the rest of the gulf countries, many many Muslim women dot cover up.
