Why is "the gun problem" the first argument that pro-gamers always come up with as the real reason for the violence problem in America?
"OK, let's pass the responsibility to someone else."
For those that don't know, you can't just go into a store and buy a gun. You have to be a certain age, pass a background check, not have any felonies on record, etc. Unless you know the facts, shut up.
Criminals, by definition, don't go to a store to buy a firearm. They steal them or get them from someone else that has stolen them, or any other illegal means that they can. They are criminals.
Being a gamer and firearm enthusiast, I am dismayed when a gamer shifts the violence away from games and onto gun owners. That doesn't solve the problem, nor is it true. Every state that has enacted concealed carry laws has seen a reduction in violent crime. Like someone above said, Joe Criminal doesn't want to rob you if he's worried you will defend yourself (as you have the right to do). Criminals prey on the weak. I wish the US would issue a firearm to every citizen like some European countries. Gun violence would disappear.
And if you wanna pick on guns, why not knives, cars, bats, hammers, etc? Like someone above said, people kill people. There are many reasons for someone wanting to commit an act of violence, just having a gun is not one of them.
As previous people have said, TMFKACGW (readers know what this means) uses a scoring system where 5 is average, as it should be. Not the current retarded bell-curve grading used by everyone else where everything below a 7 is crap. With this scale, it is harder to understand what truly is "crap" and what isn't, b/c all crappy games get lumped in the same area. The true 0-10 scoring helps truly define how the reviewer feels about the game and takes more insight by the reviewer.
Also, the score a game receives is irrelevant to your enjoyment of the game. If a game gets low score but you like it, who cares? You don't need to justify to the world the game is good based on what a reviewer says. It's all about personal enjoyment.
Let's see, $5-$10 for old Nintendo games I've already bought 2+ times (once when I was younger, and now again that I'm an older collector). How 'bought I play for free via emulation? Sounds good to me. Nintendo has made WAY too much money off me. Considering their place (3rd) amongst console makers right now, you'd think they would do everything then can to enourage people to buy their product.
"Honestly, I think this packaging is a big turnoff for a lot of people. I want all my stuff to match and I don't want to see some ugly-ass banner that tells everyone I'm a cheap-ass penny pincher. People look at your collection and it just screams out "hey! look at this moron! he waits four years to buy all his games and then he only pays 10 bucks!"
#1: Hmmm...maybe the Japanese forgot all the raping and pillaging to China and surrounding Asian countries pre-WW2 also? Or what they did to US POWs during the war? 150k people getting nuked was nothing comapred to what Japan unleashed in the Asian Pacific...
#49: Let's get this retarded mentality of movies needing to be "filmed" with HD cameras to be in HD gone forever! Newsflash: analog film is a MUCH MUCH higher resolution than anything HD can even begin to imagine. Where it's relevant here, it's the encoding process that matters. If a movie studio wants to release an HD version of a film, they just need to re-encode it in a higher, HD-like resolution instead of the normal 480p. That re-encoded HD movie will take of more space, hence the reason for a larger disc capacity. By the way, that HD movie will also still not have as much resolution as analong film. But it's probably easier to hook an HD DVD player up to your HDTV than to have a film projector and a screen. Plus, it's hard to get a hold of a movie film.
