10 reasons why the PS3 is relevant again

Mar 4th 2008 3:36PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Another reason: free themes

Am I the only one who doesn't like paying for customization? 500 Microsoft Spacebucks for an avatar? 800 for a theme?

With PS3, free themes on PSN and on the internet (user created) on top of Sony having released an XMB Theme Editor for PC that allows you to make your own XMB themes for PSP and PS3.

Free themes and an ease of use OS in Cross Media Bar, if that isn't user friendly to you *cough*X360Fanboy*cough* then I don't know what is.

Hey!! Wait a minute. I thought EGM was done putting pranks on their April issue!

Either way, Dan Hsu /pwned us.

Home integration for Resistance, Uncharted & Warhawk sounds awesome

Feb 27th 2008 9:27PM (Joystiq Playstation)
How cool would it be to not only browse empty levels from those games in a museum-like fashion but to get Valve-like DVD commentary as you're passing by certain areas. I know its asking for too much but if developers were to put just as much time into their Home exibits, I'm all for it. If developers were smart (and had more time), they'd ditch the bonus disc and port assets over to Home, making it an online extra.

In the end, I have to take 1UP Yours' word for it when many developers complain that they have so little time to churn out a game, let alone a fully structured exibit for Home.

Apple revises trademark to include gaming devices

Feb 11th 2008 11:08AM (Joystiq)
runs on intel, powered by OS X, hella thin, parallels with iTunes, has a Safari web browser, wirelessly syncs with iTunes on your PC...more in the lines of Apple being more ambitious with hardware than Sony. Certainly, I could see Apple being a thorn to Microsoft's XBOX as Microsoft is a thorn to Sony.

With everyone saying that 2008 is going to be "more awesome" than '07, do any of you guys (and gals) believe that 2008 (let alone the industry) has room for a fourth platform?

First trailer of flOw on PSP

Just a thought, wouldn't it be more efficient if this game were playable via Remote Play instead of it being a separate DLC game?

Back To The Future 1, when Marty is pushed on the hood of his car, he does some quick thinking by meeting his improvised skateboard on the other side of the car as he's walking on top of Biff's car & goonies causing BIff to do a one eighty slide into a truck filled with manure, filling his car with the substance in the process while Marty skids and admires his craftsmanship. He then hands the skateboard back to the kid he "borrowed" it from.

PS3 version please.

The firmware also tweeks the web browser to not gray out the background when you run it. Nice touch Sony.

Bungie's Weinland and Cowan to keynote Game Design Expo

Nov 14th 2007 2:02PM (Joystiq)
I attended the first GDX when I lived in Vancouver. For anyone wanting to get their foot in the industry, attend this event! Not only do you bond with future students but it's a fine start in putting your name out there to any other companies that are hiring.

@Xenocide:
I paid $25-35 CDN for my ticket last year.
