Japanese hardware sales, Sept. 6 - Sept. 12: Live from Tokyo edition

@B3astofthe3ast

Just wait until next week - when the Pokemon Black and White effect kicks in.

It`s also hilarious how they only have two emotions - extremely positive and gung-ho "YES!!! Let`s do this!!! We can kill the Massive Life Forms!" or in the depths of complete and utter terror and hopelessness. "Oh god help me!! The Massive Life Forms are approaching! I am going to DIE!!!"

I can`t keep myself from laughing when they all run off in super positive mode, then within seconds start screaming that they`re out of ammo and are going to die.

EDF was incredibly hilarious in Japanese. The things the other people said were pure comedy.
Instead of calling the things insects or huge freaking ants - everyone would use the most generic term possible "Massive Life Forms!"... OMG!! Massive Life Forms are killing me! The Massive Life Forms are sucking my life away! Oh god, we cannot beat the Massive Life Forms!"

If you have the time to say "Massive Life Forms", you`re still okay.

Watch this Ghost Trick footage, for dog's sake

This is honestly one of my favorite games - I can`t recommend it more highly.
The pace is great, the humor/seriousness balance is perfect, and I really liked the characters. I hope that all of this is preserved well in the localization... I can`t say that the bits of translation (in videos and the like) I`ve seen have really impressed me though.

It will be unfortunate the localization hurts the game... Which would be fairly easy because of the humorous character designs and art.

Monster Hunter Tri has occupied over 50 hours per player on average

@blahblah55

I know that it sort of mimics the PSP one - but there were a number of frustrating things about it that just aren`t present in the portable versions.
For example, Hunter Rank. Not even Frontier makes it so hard to advance - or at the very least they give you a fair number of harder quests so that you can raise your HR fairly quickly if you have the skill. I felt like Tri was pure grind for HR, especially just after starting online. To the point of being generally frustrating and boring.

And this coming from someone with 550+ hours on 2ndG.

I forget how many hours I have on it - but finished the offline quests, and made the armor from the final boss.
I`d been working on the online for a while - then my Wii died. Nintendo basically said there is no way to keep the save data, and there is no way to copy it to keep...
After however many hours (100+ at the very least), there is no way I am starting again. So I`ve picked up Monster Hunter Frontier on the 360 and have started working on it. I`m sure I`ll hop on over to Portable 3 when it comes out.

Online is great and all, but handheld with plenty of offline content is better in my opinion. Also, playing with physically present people is just more fun.

Preview: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

We picked this up on release. The story is really worth playing - and the puzzles manage to keep from becoming tiring.
Honestly impressive, but far too little publicity... Particularly as they could have done a lot more being as it is from the same guy as Gyakuten Saiban. That alone would sell it but it`s hardly posted anywhere.

Now I just have to finish it. It gets pretty challenging later on.

Ni no Kuni for PS3 revealed, beautiful

There is virtually no chance that I`m *not* buying this.
It will be really nice to see this kind of thing on the PS3.

Twenty natively 3D PS3 titles releasing by March 2011

Jun 15th 2010 8:33PM (Joystiq)
We`re typically early adopters, but 3D TV is one I just can`t justify at this time...
Every model we`ve tried in stores has managed to give me sharp eye pains within a few minutes, and one of them even triggered a migraine. And this is just short demos.
Any game that requires me to play it in 3D can pretty much count on not being purchased for the time being.

CRTs would also trigger migraines, but it was extended viewing (2+ hours) or watching it while lying down that did it. Not just sitting down to watch a 5 minute demo.

PS3's Torne DVR launching in Japan March 18

We played around a bit with this on display, and I have to say - the interface is FAST and slick. The program listing is probably the nicest I`ve seen on a recorder or tuner. We have a dedicated recorder but are still picking this up because it was just so much faster and cooler (and cheap). It also supports USB HDDs, so you can increase your storage without having to change out the PS3 HDD.
