Put your right hand in, put your right hand out, do the Steel Battalion

@tabicat

It's how Kinect should have been. There's a lot of Kinect games that could do with some controller functions as well as the motion tracking. There's a lot of actions, like shooting, that feel wrong without physical interaction of some kind.

Report: Capcom sees 'no distinction' between on-disc and off-disc DLC

@jerry420ificate

The Javik DLC wasn't completed until after the game went Gold, i.e. was finished. It was a further month or after the game went Gold that it was released. That was plenty of time to finish that DLC and get it certified for day one download. Given how much it costs to get content through the cert stage, it would have been cheaper for them to put it on the disc (hmmm... as I type that, I'm thinking maybe that's why Capcom did it this way?).

The other distinction is that BioWare gave it as part of the N7 CE package, which they didn't have to do as it wasn't part of the originally announced N7 CE package. Given the size of the fanbase, they could have held on and announced it after release for everyone to buy in the same vein as the ME2 DLCs were done.

There is nothing redeemable about the Capcom method, whether you see it as gamer-entitlement or not, it still boils down to greediness on their part. The content was done and dusted on time to ship with the game, so why not include it? They could have, as I said in a previous post, made it free with new copies of the game - an incentive not to buy a preowned copy - but they didn't, they decided to not do a good thing for the fans.

This, on top of their Resident Evil no-deletion-of-save-file debacle, has soured my opinion of Capcom completely.

I've been thinking, maybe I could try this in my job. I'll do my work, finish it 100% but only hand over half of it and charge them extra for the other half.

I'd be more than pissed off if I bought a Blu Ray or DVD movie and found out that there were scenes on it that I had to pay extra to watch. ALL content on the disc should be unlocked when I buy a game new. I can understand project 10-dollar and certain non-essential content being locked for preowned games but not when I buy a "full" game new.

This just strikes me as greed and nothing more than that, the content should never have been locked if it was ready to be shipped with the game or at least, as I said, unlock it for new game purchases.

I certainly hope they don't get away with this or it could set a precedence. I'm voting with my wallet. Shame, I was interested in SFxT until this.

Investment company buys Game, halting closures, firings, bankruptcy

Apr 2nd 2012 6:28AM (Joystiq)
@Roflrex

I wasn't defending GAME's old business practices. They did have major issues but that was down to over-spending and trying to grow too quick - they hadn't enough working capital for expanding the way they did. GameStop have a better business model but I've never had a good experience with buying from them.

Good news. OpCapita have a good reputation in bringing back doomed companies. Thank goodness, for the sake of competition, GameStop didn't buy them. Hopefully, in time, they'll also decide to re-open some stores in the Irish Republic again.

Rampant Speculation Theatre presents: Microsoft registers XboxFL.com

It will always direct to Bing because it stands for "fake link"! :-P

Seriously, I am very curious to find out what it means. Has it to do with the next gen? Maybe it's just "features list" of something as trivial?

EA explains why UEFA Soccer is now FIFA 12 DLC

Mar 30th 2012 7:12PM (Joystiq)
Those UEFA games never really sold too well so, from a business point-of-view I can see why EA are doing this. It makes a lot of sense; less costs, more profits. It's also good for gamers.
