Grace E-motorbikes are ultralightweight, German, and very expensive

Nov 23rd 2009 4:03PM (Engadget)
Har, surprised no one has noticed yet...

They paired a too-large bike with a too-short model. There's absolutely no way that model could throw one leg over that top tube, and be able to stand over the bike. *laugh*

GPS coordinates lead demolition crew to destroy wrong house

Jun 14th 2009 10:44AM (Engadget)
The problem here isn't so much "GPS" as the systems that have faulty data in them and are assigning incorrect GPS coords to said data.

The demo company went to the GPS coords they had - which obviously were wrong. But I'd bet that they WERE accurately at the coords they had punched into their unit.

Yes, the demo company should have been more diligent. But hey, this is a bunch of guys who knock shit down, how brainly can you expect them to be? But it's also the fault of the database maintainers for making bad/inaccurate data available. This sort of thing, along with all the "drove off a cliff/into a creek" etc. stories originate with the sloppiness of the data providers who are assigning incorrect GPS coords to roads and landmarks.

Video: 45 year old modem used to dial into web, view Wikipedia, correct the entry on Klaus Nomi

Hahhaha memories.

My first modem was also an acoustic coupler beast - and I didn't even have a touch-tone phone - I had to dial with ROTARY. Ugh!

Had that thing slung off a TRS-80 Model 1 with the expansion box. Woo a whole 48k (yes K) of RAM!

iPhone OS 3.0 live chat

Mar 17th 2009 3:02PM (TUAW.com)
So I kinda skimmed the chat log, but didn't see - did they announce any date for releasing 3.0? Or even a general part-of-the-year target?

Movable Power, like Paris, is a conceptual feast

And just now I see another... "This power strips allows..." *chuckle*

Movable Power, like Paris, is a conceptual feast

Hah, and no one else noticed the typo in the text under "Movable Power" - "move the power stirp" :P

Volkswagen supplies 5,000 "green cars" for the Beijing Olympics

Do the windows auto-tint on clear air days, to properly simulate normal smog conditions in Beijing? :P

Courier-sharing scheme appears in France

The URL is colis-voiturage.fr, not coulis-voiturage.fr (no extra 'u').

True, folks could in theory steal your stuff. I would imagine certain safeguards would have to be in place for such a system to function.

iPhone 2.0.1 breaking some carrier unlocks

Yep, I did the same thing :) But once word got out about the goofup, I just grabbed the correct installer file and repeated the process, all was well.
