The only thing worse than a poor joke, is recycling someone else's poor joke.

EU reaches agreement on Galileo satnav, Spain goes home angry

Nov 30th 2007 3:34PM (Engadget)
I can understand why Spain would be against the entrance of Estonia and Lithuania into the Union. They pose no benefit to the other nations and are actually money pits due to their corrupt infrastructures and backwards cultures. So while the rest of the EU is advancing they'll still be screwing sheep.

PC World says Apple's Pippin is the "worst"

May 29th 2006 1:56PM (Joystiq)
How does striderhayasa not have any negative stars after that needless fanboy ranting?

On topic though;
People are wondering why this is news on Joystiq? That question is simple to answer, the Pipin was a videogame console and this is a videogame blog that posts news about videogames. If this blog were about OS or computers then the other items on the list would have been posted about and not the Pipin.

The Great Schism: Eastern vs. Western gaming markets [Update]

Apr 14th 2006 8:37PM (Joystiq)
Why must we put up with these children banging on keyboards, who seem to think that they have all the information and are infallible?

Case in point #41...
"If a western company wants to penetrate the japanese market, it has to create games that have universal appeal."
Western companies have been creating universal games and will continue to. Whether they are accepted and flourish, in all regions, is left for time to tell.

"You can not expect the workaholics japanese to play oblivion. You need an hour just to create the character!!!"
First and foremost, recent studies have stated that the workers of France (Ubisoft's country of origin)are considered to have the greatest work ethic followed by Germany, some other European countries, the US and Japan later in the list. Also, you pointed out (and named) the families of RPG games which the Japanese prefer (mind you these are lenghty games which require countless hours to complete). So you are contradicting yourself with the highlighted quoted. (As an aside, the never ending game of Animal Crossings was the #1 sold game in JP for their fiscal year)

"Also excessive violence is considered ugly and puts off many people who'd be otherwise interested in playing a western game."
As a youth (3 years ago to be exact I am 21), I watched many Japanese movies which were completely about martial arts fighting (VIOLENCE). While I am not saying all JP movies are of this genre, I am saying that these movies are comparable to our action flicks and are constantly produced for the JP audience. Also, as we know from sales charts fighting (violent) games sell very well in Japan.

Please everyone lose the Japan is holier than thou attitude and maybe we can get to the core of the problem. The lack of publishers willing to take risks on both sides of the ponds, which would in turn give greater choosing flexiblity to gamers everywhere.

I am not flaming you Spike, it just happens that a lot of people tend to have this JP has different, but better, game tastes than the rest of the world view.

"i think its the pink border on the screen saver that makes it look kiddy..that and the gloss white maybe..or maybe the M&M shaped buttons??"

[Flame]...

Since when have colors and circular buttons become kiddy? [Another flame]

[Here's one more... please, no personal attacks]
