Review: The Conduit

Well they are on at default, but this game has one hell of a crazy controller customization menu. There's almost to much you can mess with

I agree with you about halo and killzone being just as generic with their stories, but I think that the way in which they convey them is much more interesting and cinematic.

The single player in this game is pretty generic (much like most of the design). But I think the control it gives you is better than any FPS on any other console. I like the guns too.

The multiplayer is okay, but the lag happens more often then I'd like it to. I'll play this for a few more days, but I think I'll be going back to halo and Left 4 Dead soon.

If you don't want to use "waggle" then you don't have to you can customize the controls however you see fit.

Branching Dialogue: Don't shoot, or I'll move! (A Resident Evil 5 defense)

Feb 10th 2009 10:45AM (Joystiq)
the resident evil series USED to be a survival horror game and therefore they could have a control set up the way they did and have it work. RE5 is an action game and as long as they changed that aspect of the gameplay they should have changed the control set up as well, in particular because of the addition of the co-op. In RE4 I could shoot some slow moving zombies, then run up on a roof and pick the rest of them that came my way off, now I have to worry about some woman screaming for help because she didn't have the smarts to follow me up there. It's not just that it makes it "harder" it actually makes the experience worse

There is a reason that after halo came out all fps on consoles started using the same control scheme, and that reason is that they work the best. There are other 3rd person over the shoulder action games now, and RE should have evolved.

EA announces Dead Space for Wii, hints at MotionPlus support

Feb 3rd 2009 6:49PM (Joystiq)
hmmm, might not be to bad, I don't understand why some on here are so upset, it's not as though you'll never be able to play the game on your 360 again. Theres not even a hint that it's ONLY going to be on wii from now on or anything so theres not much to worry about. After watching a bunch of videos from the conduit I'm fairly confident that if EA decides to put some money behind this thing, it could look and play just fine.

MTV teams up with Mega Man to compare console download speeds

Feb 3rd 2009 8:54AM (Joystiq)
not really sure why they even bothered this "test" seems rather pointless we have no idea where any of these files are stored or where the servers are located that store them to find out which one is truly "faster" that being said just as they used empirical proof to prove their argument I will as well. Stuff seems to download in about the same time on all 3 systems for me, but none as fast as Steam through my PC

Confirmed: no run-and-gun in Resident Evil 5. Ever.

It's not a terrible game or anything, and the RE4 controls were fine, not for when they came out... that's not what i mean, but they were FINE for the game they made. It was a survival horror game where you had the time to run back, turn, and shoot. Now it's an action game, where you must every so often turn, run, and help out your teamate and after playing the demo, to me, it just doesn't work.

In simple terms, they made everything in the game, other than the controls into an action shooter, which is why it doesn't feel right.

All this being said it is a demo, I have heard it is a lot more fun with a second person, instead of the AI they give you, and if one of my friends buy it, I'll probably play it. It's just a little bit of a disappointment,

Confirmed: no run-and-gun in Resident Evil 5. Ever.

For those saying that the people complaining about the controls never played RE4, I am here to respectfully disagree. I played RE4 on gamecube, PS2, and then the wii. I've unlocked everything you could in the game, and in fact it was one of my favorite games from that generation (if you can't tell)

But this game just doesn't feel right, if your going to have a game where you have to run away from you enemies and turn around (like this game and RE4) to shoot them you can't have it be a co-op mode with an AI partner that DOESN'T follow you everywhere you go.

I played the demo and ran up to the highest point I could and turned around (as I had done many times in RE4) to shoot my enemies. Within 5 seconds the girl below starts screaming from down below about needing to be saved. RE1-4 (survival horror) RE5 (Action/Shooter) and when they made that switch, they should have updated the control scheme, it's just that simple.

I also read that some people don't want it to seem like every other game out there. But those who have play uncharted, and gears of war know that even if a game has the same controls, they can offer COMPLETELY different experiences.
