Half-baked gaming [Update 1]

Apr 19th 2006 12:15PM (Joystiq)
Just in time for 420 :)

My opinion: You could be tripped out on 5 hits of acid and Fantavision would still suck.

Here's my list:
1. Any Wario Ware, specifically Mega Party Games
2. Rez (haven't played it, but I just have to assume!)
3. We Love Katamari (the original will do)
4. DDR / In The Groove
5. Frequency / Amplitude
6. Mario Golf (very chillin')
7. Lumines / Meteos
8. Super Smash Bros Melee
9. Any Mario Party (more of a drinking game though)
10. Pong (Playstation)

I never miss an opportunity to listen to that rap. Shame on you, IGN :(

Numero 23: "How about in any ddr game?"

You were never (un)fortunate enough to play the old ones? (Guessing a bit here from memory)

"Your dancing is like sunshine on a cloudy day!"

"I can see hope in your dance, I can see tommorow in your dance"

But if you run low on health:

"Did you have breakfast today?" :(

Commence rampant PSP part deux speculation!

#37 "Remember the original playstation got shrunk and redesigned to make PSone"

That happened after Nintendo shrunk and redesigned the SNES, which in turn happened after Atari redesigned the 2600, which in turn happened after cavemen redesigned the wheel. No one stole from anyone.

#8 "MMM... star modding shows a Sony bias. Oh that's probably why I take this site with little or no credibility."

Really? I find Joystiq has more of a Nintendo bias than anything else. At least, I think that's why I keep coming back ;)

#1 "(Lumines is an exception becuase it's a great game)"

Agreed, but I like Meteos more... it uses the touchscreen, it's not a "focus on one block at a time" sort of game, and it can't be solved deterministically (not that I would do that, and on the other side of the coin, you could scribble randomly in Meteos and sort of get away with it).

The fact that the designer of the game also designed Smash Bros is icing.

All right everybody, say it with me now!

#5 "Cardboard boxes should so be banned."

Also freedom. Don't forget freedom!

#48 "(Flame on!)"

Oh, I wouldn't worry about being flamed, the groupthink going on here will overwhelm just about anyone ready to defend the deep south / bush supporters / etc.

That being said, I agree that these people are idiots to suspect these boxes of having bombs in them (for all reasons already stated), and assholes for trying to use flaunt their authority around ('you could go to jail for this serious offense' kind of thing).

#43 "Were these boxes blowing in the wind, as they appear to be? [empty boxes]"

lol, I hope they were, because that would be damn funny.

Kotaku "What seems like harmless fun to Super Mario Bros. loving nerds like you and me, becomes serious business when the fire department, Hazmat team, and police get involved."

Cant be sure, but are these guys implying that it's the girls' fault that these people were so unthinkably stupid they had to 'call in them Hazmat fellers'?

These people are so dumb that if terrorists actually did enter their town, it would be disintegrated before the police even noticed anything.

RedOctane CEO: More music games coming

"Believe me, Harmonix would LOVE to create a sequel to FreQ/Amp. But the franchise is owned by Sony, and they're simply not interested, either in funding a sequel or in selling the franchise back to us. It breaks our hearts, because there's so much potential left untapped there, but there's nothing we can do about it. Every single day we get impassioned emails from fans begging for a sequel. It's torture."

It's possible that Sony let it sit, and has now recently approached HMX about it to help launch the PS3, but doubtful.

ITG2 has already been confirmed, so it's probably not that... maybe RedOctane is publishing a game from a company other than HMX or Roxor...

Xbox 360 snags classic 3rd-Party Nintendo title

29,

"There was a Mega Man collection on Sega Genesis"

That wasn't the obvious one I was going for, but interesting nonetheless :)

Xbox 360 snags classic 3rd-Party Nintendo title

#4, you're right, and the last part of your post really drives the point home:

"More recently, Paperboy was included in Midway Arcade Treasures, a compilation of arcade games for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox and Windows released in 2003"

Don't remember anyone reporting when "Nintendo" games were going on the PS2 and Xbox :P

For the record, first time I played Paperboy was on the Genesis. I was a little behind the curve on that one. The only reason "most" people played it first on NES was because that console had like a 99% market share.

Hell, by the same logic, you could call Burnout 3 (PS2, Xbox) a PS2 game. But now there's a 360 Burnout coming out. OMG! They're taking a PS2 classic from Sony!!1

Now if Capcom took the old Mega Man games that were only on the NES and SNES, and put them all in a collection, (perhaps to celebrate his anniversary or something like that), and then released it on non-Nintendo consoles, that would be a bigger story.

Avoiding expensive gym memberships?

In the case of dancing games, you either have to plunk a lot of money on a quality dance pad, pump endless quarters into arcade cabinets, or frustrate yourself with cheap, easily-worn-out, often-faulty dance mats.

Donka Konga's a fairly enjoyable game, but it doesn't have the lasting value (or physical movement) or DDR. Though I play more In The Groove than DDR these days.

Load time from HELL! PSP game takes its sweet time

#2: Yeah, that was a disgrace. I rented Blitz: The League for the PS2 a while ago. The saving takes so long that I literally thought the game was frozen. It must take 2 minutes if not more to save a damn file.
