I've had this happen to me several times. EVEN WORSE is that sometimes I would receive a game that is seemingly new and sealed, but when I open it at home I would notice that the disc had fingerprints on it and the manual had a bit of wear to it.
THIS IS WHY... I often traded my games in for store credit, and the response I always get is that I keep my games in excellent condition. On two occasions, I heard the clerk make a comment that they were going to seal it and put it on the shelf. I'm assuming AS NEW!
I don't plan on shopping there again, but I still have about $250 worth in credit that I need to spend.
Sony and MS had two different strategies. MS gives gamers an affordable way to enjoy their core GAME console without all the EXTRAS: movies, HDDVD, wireless controller, etc etc. I repeat: EXTRAS.
Sony on the otherhand forces gamers to get everything.
With that said, Mario is not promoting a department store... well, sort of. The Parco department store has a museum on its top floor that showcases recent pop&culture trends/icons. Mario was actually an exhibit held there for it's 20th (?) anniversary.
