Mass Effect 3 'Extended Cut' DLC free this summer, offers 'further clarity to the ending'
Apr 5th 2012 11:11AM (Joystiq)I'm fine if all it does is provide "clarity and context" and makes each ending a little more unique. Mostly, I just want to know what the hell actually happened.
Though at the same time, I'm a bit dismayed that this content may have pushed back some multiplayer DLC. I'd really like some new races / maps (so long as it's not overpriced).
Report: Capcom sees 'no distinction' between on-disc and off-disc DLC
Apr 3rd 2012 11:47AM (Joystiq)If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
If DLC is included on the disc, does it count as "downloadable content?"
I don't claim to have come up with this myself, but I prefer the term "Disc-locked Content."
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer kicks off 'Operation Raptor' this weekend
Mar 29th 2012 3:57PM (Joystiq)On the Bioware forums they site "technical issues" but I think it's probably just a conflict of interest kind of thing.
Sony is understandably getting more anal-retentive about their online policies ever since they were hacked. I think that has more to do with it than anything else.

Mar 29th 2012 3:54PM (Joystiq)Anyone saying the Krogans aren't competitive on Silver haven't put much effort into it... it's GOLD where Krogans have a lot of trouble, especially when using a melee build.
I do think they need a bit of buffing though. All they need to do is make Krogans immune (or at the very least, highly resistant) to grabs, insta-kills, and "knockback" effects, and they would be leaps and bounds better than they are now, as then they would make for perfectly viable bodyguards against phantoms, hunters, etc, that have a bad tendency to wreak an entire team.
Mass Effect 3 player feedback spawns 'content initiatives,' details in April
Mar 27th 2012 12:19PM (Joystiq)If true, the ending itself isn't bad so much as the presentation / execution of it. I mean, even if that interpretation is what they were going for, there's still no explanation of what actually happened, not just with Shepherd but with his crew, and hell for that matter what happened to the whole freakin universe.
If some small piece of DLC or additional video content offered more clarity, and perhaps more importantly to a lot of people, more closure, then this whole controversy would probably just go away.

MLB 12: The Show fouled up by online pass issues
Mar 23rd 2012 5:45PM (Joystiq)I 100% agree with this statement.
If something like this happens again, just tell them you'll return the game and buy some other game instead if you don't get your code.
You'll either get the code, or you won't and you'll return the game. Easy breezy. Yes, you may really, really, really want that game, but trust me, THERE ARE OTHER GAMES!

Mar 23rd 2012 5:30PM (Joystiq)Please provide an example of reasonable laws that would not infringe on freedom of speech rights, while at the same time combating piracy. Because I don't think it's possible.
You say go after the distributors, but what do you mean?
Torrents and peer2peer connect hundreds of people amongst one another to share files. So, let's say 50,000 people all download and share X-Men First Class using a torrent client. With current copyright law at a $250,000 fine and 5 years of jailtime, that would be, collectively, $12,500,000,000 and 250,000 years of jailtime in punishment. Does this sound reasonable?
This may sound like hyperbole, but it's not. I honestly don't know of any other way of doing it. If you go after sites that host torrent files, all you're really doing is making it slightly less convenient for people to obtain torrents.
Schafer: 'It's not that stressful to get a whole bunch of money all of a sudden'
Mar 23rd 2012 4:30PM (Joystiq)Love of Double Fine is one of the biggest reasons, sure, but I think what really set it over the edge is the promise that the community will be able to provide feedback while the game is made, and the documentary.
It just goes to show how much the dedicated gaming crowd wants more involvement in the development process, or at the very least, wants a more insightful look into some of the behind the scenes work that goes into game development.
