@SpecBlank

But only because you asked nicely.

Top Gamerscore(r) crosses 600,000

@The Only Girl
No it's pretty much just bragging rights and dick-size contests. This is why I hate this whole "acheivements" system. In my day we played a game and we beat it, there was none of this "Earn 100 extra points if you beat the game on Superhard Mode using only the Rusty Spoon" BS attempts to add replay value.

Also, remember that to get a gamer score THAT high, this dude had to play ALOT of shovelware bullcrap and really bad games, just for the meaningless points.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy coming from Electroplankton devs, features characters from I - XIII

@Helghast102
Obviously, I said *some*. For me the best FF tunes are songs like Aeris' theme from FF7, the Opera from FF6, Dancing Mad, Celes' theme, (okay most every song from FF6)... sweeping, emotional stuff. But I guess the battle music works too. Even most of those, I wouldn't call danceable. Though, I admit that may be a matter of personal taste.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy coming from Electroplankton devs, features characters from I - XIII

A Rhythm game... with Final Fantasy music? Aren't some of the best, most memorable FF tunes soft, slow, symphonic scores? That doesn't exactly scream "fast paced button-mashing music game" to me.

Unless they're all just going to be techno remixes, in which case no thanks, I'll just go to OCRemix for that.

Ms. 'Splosion Man contains a hidden dig at Capcom

Jul 11th 2011 4:17PM (Joystiq)
That is one of the lamest "digs" I've heard in a long time. Did it take them a whole 30 seconds to come up with that clever and subtle satire? If I'd never heard of this MaXplosion (and I hadn't before reading the explanation of the gag in the article) I'd be left confused as to why they'd randomly insulted Capcom while parodying a Nintendo game...

Call of Juarez: The Cartel screens have a few dozen tickets to the gun show

Jul 1st 2011 3:29AM (Joystiq)
I admit, I enjoyed the first Call Of Juarez even though it had plenty of flaws to complain about, and I really enjoyed the second one (mostly because it didn't force you to play through 'stealth' missions to get to the fun parts), but this.. this just looks bad. I'm not usually the type to complain about mediocre graphics but geez, it doesn't even look slightly better than the first two games.
And I realize they're trying to tell an ongoing story with these games, but setting this one in the modern area is a bad move, it just takes all the appeal of this series away for me. Now it just looks like a really poor man's Call Of Duty.

'Operation Rainfall' campaign seeks localization of Wii RPGs

All I can think is that hopefully they'll have more luck than the poor, poor Mother/EarthBound fans. I won't be holding my breath though.

Nintendo considering future 3D video recording 'update' for 3DS

Jan 13th 2011 3:55PM (Joystiq)
Wow, when you randomly walk past people who left their 3DS on in their pocket, you can exchange data and gifts with other Nintendogs players! Awesome! Nintendo is always so creative and innov-

Wait isn't that just Bark Mode from Nintendogs for DS, released 5 years ago? :|

GTA: Chinatown Wars HD out for iPad, this is what it looks like

Sep 9th 2010 3:56PM (Joystiq)
Knowing how the AppStore works, I predict this is going to get alot of 1-Star reviews because of their decision to release a seperate, extra-$10 version exclusively for iPad instead of just updating the preexisting iPhone version. Granted I own neither version, so no skin off my nose, but this is a marketplace where people regularly whine because they feel $1.99 is too much to pay for a game.

Hello Games: 10% of Joe Danger players have actually finished it

Aug 23rd 2010 11:25AM (Joystiq)
@Shadsy
Well, *no*, I don't mean 'Why bother", I DO enjoy games that are fun and don't have a strong storyline. Heck, I'm a huge retrogamer. I'm just saying, I have alot less desire to beat all 255 levels of PacMan than I do to see the ending of Ninja Gaiden. Really, what can you gain by beating a game like Joe Danger other than bragging rights?

Yeah, I'm know I'm weird. I don't like Achievements either.
