Best Buy customer sues after being clobbered by falling TV
Oct 2nd 2007 4:48PM (Engadget)Except for the fact that they show you a safety video when you're hired, and require you to know all the guidelines. Also to even use the device nicknamed "Big Joe" to get TV's down you're required to learn about how to use it properly, take a test proving you retained the information, and then show you know how to use it by getting a manager to watch you operate it properly. And there are many safety warnings on the machine itself, on the ladders, and in the warehouse reminding people to be safe. But I suppose those don't qualify as proper training and safety guidelines.
But you guys can now continue putting down Best Buy for trying to kill their customers, inflate their prices, rip people off, etc etc.
Totem Talk: Masters of the Elements
Sep 27th 2007 5:39PM (WoW)Shamanistic suggestions
Aug 23rd 2007 2:22PM (WoW)If someone destroys an Earth totem, it heals the Shaman for X amount. If someone destroys a water totem, it restores X amount of mana to the Shaman. If someone destroys a fire totem, it does X amount of damage to the person who destroyed it. If someone destroys an air totem, they are stunned for 2 seconds / gust of air knocks them backwards / whatever.
So maybe not necessarily increase the totems health, but add an effect that makes someone think twice before just shooting a totem with their wand. Obviously it would be more of a decision to destroy a grounding totem and be out of the fight for effectively 4-5 seconds, or just leave it up and have a spell absorbed but stay in the fight and the shaman has more of a fighting chance.
I think that ghost wolf should be unaffected by most snares... right now, as someone said, it is useless. I haven't used it since Warsong Gulch. If it were a way to escape a battle / get far enough away to heal up, cast lightning bolt, etc. without getting hamstrung or dazed it would actually see some use by shamans over level 40/50...
Air shock as a knock down / threat reducer would be nice... 250 mana, unlinked 15-20 second cooldown, reduces your aggro by x amount and knocks down the target. would at least allow me to get a warrior off of my ass, etc.
Totems persisting through death is a good idea, but also how about totems do not grab aggro. (Besides obviously damage ones and stoneclaw.) When is the last time a mage put on arcane intellect and had a mob come out of no where and start attacking? Would also help with the fact that mobs couldve respawned in the spot you died in so you don't get instant aggro when you res / have your totems destroyed anyways.
I agree with the other poster who suggested more "bolts" like lightning bolts. We are supposed to be one with the elements and nature and have nothing to show for it. Some sort of water / fire or even air offensive spell would be nice (maybe linked with lightning bolt, as with shocks as to not go overboard...) Blizz would just have to find a way to do that without effectively making us mages.
People don't realize frost shock / earthbind aren't good forms of CC when a hunter is kiting you because then you are still the same distance apart, just moving at the same speed now. Same with warlocks who fear, shadow priests, mages, etc.
Shamanistic suggestions
Aug 22nd 2007 11:38PM (WoW)Anyways, I think the easiest way to give Shamans a form of CC is to give a 4th shock, but one that stuns. Air Shock? I don't know. Have it do the least damage out of all of the shocks, have a low mana cost, but a higher and seperate cooldown. That way when a Rogue is stunlocking me I can do something other than earthbind, which gets destroyed anyways.
As for totem buffs? I like the idea of 3 hits in a row, no AoE. Maybe not for all totems, but in their current form totems are worthless in PvP. And you may say "Well you can purge!"... sure we can purge, but your Arcane Intellect / MoTW / etc. still serve a purpose in a BG / PvP whereas my totems don't stand a chance and have little to no effect other than draining my mana.

Aug 7th 2007 3:05PM (Joystiq)Thieves rob Best Buy blind
Jul 23rd 2007 1:24PM (Engadget)Also, to a post i read before... Of course you can find better prices online... they don't have to worry about maintaining over 800 stores, theft, and paying about 150 employees for each of those stores not including the corporate level employees, so those cost saving areas are passed down to the consumers.
If you don't know how a business runs or have never worked in retail, its really irresponsible to think you know what you are talking about.
Thieves rob Best Buy blind
Jul 23rd 2007 1:19PM (Engadget)Thieves rob Best Buy blind
Jul 23rd 2007 1:17PM (Engadget)And people don't understand theft. Let's say one CD gets stolen @ $13. We buy it for $9. So a 4 dollar markup. We have to sell about 2 more of those Cd's to make up for that one stolen CD. (In case you still don't get it... the stolen cd costs $9, the next 2 cd's we sell will make us about 4 dollars each in profit, just shy of making up for that 9 dollars we lost.) Now think about those 40 laptops... there is very little markup on computer systems, especially laptops. So lets say the laptops were $1,299 and we bought them for $1,200... I'll do the math. FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY LAPTOPS HAVE TO BE SOLD AT THAT SAME PRICE TO MAKE UP FOR IT. Way to stick it to the big corporation...
So overall, stealing from a company makes their markup on items go up further, causes them to staff less people per day, resulting in higher prices and very little customer service.
Flame on.
