My solution to this problem is to wait for Far Cry3 and Bioshock Infinite. Both games have been presented as being character-driven. I simply hope they deliver and we all get awesome gameplay that's intertwined with an awesome story.
Also, I don't think the "saving the world" story is a big deal, I just think there should be a way to link the main quest to the development and growth of the protagonist and other characters.
For the past week, I've been checking Joystiq for a review for MW3. But from all this news of stolen copies and ridiculous e-bay bids, I'm gonna go ahead and guess 5 STARS.
You, sir, must be reading my mind. That's exactly what I think about the single player campaign. It has it's issues, but the story is comprehensive, engaging, and sometimes moving.
I haven't enjoyed playing SP on an FPS like this since COD 4. Also, awesome multiplayer is awesome.
Wait a second, I thought Spec-Ops was such a big deal because it wasn't a regular co-op campaign. Spec-Ops is more like a Horde/Firefight mode, as opposed to a co-op campaign.
Gears and Halo had co-op campaigns that were exactly the same as Single-Player and I still had a blast with those.
