Boy I really need to examine my posts a lot better;
I meant to say that these controllers can't be made much more complicated because we have to remember those people who are NOT big gamers so we don't alienate them with these intimidating controllers.
I think #5 makes an interesting point. You define "next-gen" by the controller and not by graphics.
Think of the 8-bit NES, 2 button controller;
SNES is 6-button, we get an analog stick with the N64,
which offered a great amount of control.
The PSX gave us 4 shoulder buttons.
With each new iteration of a console, the controller offered the user greater control. This is not to say that the graphics are not important, they are a key element to offering greater realism of jaw-dropping visuals. They need to go hand in hand.
At the same time, how much more can they do with a controller without making it to complicated for people who been big gamers to begin with, since they DO need to be considered especially with these companies pushing the consoles as multi-function devices that should be the center of the family's entertainment center.
I agree with #4:
All this release speculation is getting kinda stale. I'm fully expecting for Sony to give a release date at this year's E3. Anything sooner than that will just be a welcome surprise.

That should cover up my typos.
