The GT-R GT1 is more of a test car to see how things go, it's not supposed to be some sort of serious competitor against the MC12s and such in GT1. And it's an FIA GT1 car, not an ACO GT1 car, so why would they spend all the money creating a different spec car for a single race in a category that's absolutely dead?

Because in every single time a GT-R has lapped the same track as a 911 Turbo and Z06, the two cars it's most often compared with, it's been faster. And on this longer track, it's about as much faster as you'd expect based on it's performance on every other track in a multitude of different Nissan press cars or random customer cars.
