PlayStation Plus in April: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, free Shank 2, Shift 2 Unleashed

@sin2sin Man, it was like only within the first few months of PS+. It was actually when Stackingnwas released. Particularly interesting, since I think that's one of the only times a new release was free.

After a slow start (excluding the first real worthwhile freebie, IMO, Stacking), I am really impressed by how much Sony has stepped up its game with creating value out of PS+.

Rainbow 6: Patriots development team restructured [update: Ubisoft partially confirms]

@Luciano Entirely possible, I suppose. I hope that's true, because I've always enjoyed the R6 series, even when it shifted from the heavily tactical PC games to the more console-friendly approach.

Thanks, Ubisoft. Heaven forbid adult gamers have the opportunity to play something that gives them pause. And after all the good will you garnered from me with Rayman Origins, too...

Apparently having George Washington in Assassin's Creed is no problem, but creating moral dilemmas is inappropriate.

Sure, the media would have blown it out of proportion and focused on kids playing something they shouldn't, but that doesn't mean you have to abandon ship and defang the entire project.

Rayman Origins demo out now on Steam

If you don't buy Rayman Origins, the terrorists win. I recently introduced several teenage nephews (who had never even heard of Rayman, I don't think) to it. Multiplayer in this game is insanely fun. As on of the boys put it, "It's like Mario, except really fun."

@The Tim I say go for the 3DS. You can transfer the DSiWare games to the 3DS through a tool that Nintendo provides on their eShop, so depending on how broken the DSi is, that is an options (as long as you still have the DSi and can access the files on it). It's a direct-transfer sort of thing, as far as I know. I don't know how much luck you'd have getting Nintendo to restore them remotely. If you can't turn on the DSi to transmit the files to the 3DS, you may unfortunately be SOL.

@Nergy Spending money on redesigning something that's already selling well has worked for them before, so why would they stop now?

@Nergy Fair enough, I suppose, but the DS US release was November 2005. The DS Lite's US release date was in June 2006. 19 months. The 3DS US release was in 3/2011. 19 months later would be October 2012. Not saying it's necessarily going to be the same story, but given their approach to the CPP, it's hard to fully believe they're not already on that path. The DS Lite, the DSi and even the virtually pointless DSi XL were are all successes, clearly, so Nintendo knows they can get away with numerous hardware revisions that only help sales. I think the DS Lite was just them seeing if people would be willing to pay for incremental updates. Consumers have proven that to be true.
