Michael Dell at the Austin Game Conference
Sep 10th 2006 1:19AM (Joystiq)I think the interviewer maybe asked him about it numerous more times once dell intially mentioned something about some 21 year old.
Part or full Jamaican if I'm not mistaken impressive nonetheless would love to meet this genius.
Dev: PS3, 360 graphics "impossible to tell apart"
May 3rd 2006 3:53PM (Joystiq Xbox)It isn't slightly superior either its just flat out better. At any given moment 48 shader units can be dedicated to vertex shader processing whereas the ps3 has 8 vertex shader pipelines. The 360 gpu also has twice the pixel shader units. 48 to the ps3's 24. Video memory bandwidth on the 360 256GB/s on ps3.. 48GB/s Oh I'm sure as hell this makes a big difference. I suspect when developers start taking better advantage of the 360 gpu things will get better for the 360.
There goes Bethesda's neighborhood
Apr 26th 2006 9:55AM (Joystiq Xbox)It runs it just as well as a high end pc does and they both look just as good. People like to whine oh look the pc version has extra grass here, umm the 360 version ACTUALLY has to run HDR+AA simultaneously whereas the pc version isn't. I've yet to run into any significant performance issues in the 360 version of oblivion. Is it any wonder the 360 version of oblivion outsold the pc version ? 1.5 million copies sold were from the 360 like a rough 200,000 were from the pc version.
How do I know? bethesda said 1.7 million copies were sold well for that month elder scrolls was #2 on the pc charts behind the number 1 sims game and that sims game sold 230,000 copies or so and elder scrolls which was in second was said to have been beating by a large margin. So I'd say seeing its apparent not many are having these performance issues. Also no the game is not coming to the ps3. Oblivion on psp right.... even the ps3 wont be running HDR+AA simultaneously.
Burnout demo crashes?
Mar 22nd 2006 11:20AM (Joystiq Xbox)Firmware hack sets sail?
Mar 22nd 2006 4:03AM (Joystiq Xbox)Thespecialist... or whatever he wants to call himself and everyone else involved with it and the initial firmware hack, all the people even interested in exploiting this to pirate games, or even intend to teach people how to take advantage of it are all petty theives. To claim they did it for the LOVE of hacking and have only good intentions with no plans of releasing it yet they leave a bunch of notes so others can continue on with what they did and illegally pirate software. Don't give people this noble hacker code of ethics rubbish you WANTED people to use it for piracy and for it to be accomplished through your notes just so you can say to yourself "yes this is because of me"
Well news flash.. just because you were the first pack of idiots to publicly show that you've done this, its been well known about for sometime now except others have a sense of class and ethics to not publicly release such a thing. Then you have one of the jokers that feels good enough about himself to go get interviewed as if he feels he's accomplished something great. You are not special mr "robinsod" or whatever alias you idiots like to go by. Some people just make me sick to my stomach.
eNCHANT arM makes it into one disc
Jan 20th 2006 4:33AM (Joystiq Xbox)The grid style play seems like it wouldn't be good, but its actually surprisingly fun and addictive this game starts out holding your hand quite a bit then steps it up bigtime later on. This game will be a big hit it just needs to come to the usa.
Over 150+ characters to choose from to be in your party including golems. There are like over 150+ golems in this game very fun to say the least. It even has characters from otogi.
A developer's look at the PlayStation 3
Jan 12th 2006 4:24AM (Joystiq)Sure the ps3 will be an amazing machine, but there are many aspects in which the ps3 cannot match the 360 and there are areas in which the 360 can't match the ps3 as well, but guess what? The areas in which the ps3 can't match the 360 are the ones that matter the most as far as a developer is concerned. Graphics technology that goes well beyond shader model 3.0 and many directx10 (WGF) requirements, 5 times the memory bandwidth of the ps3, 512MB of memory dedicated to video and system memory (ps3 has 256 to each). I wont even touch on the amazing software development kit available for the 360, but its a shame more people aren't able to experience this thing. All I wish is that microsoft add support for 1080p because the 360's gpu is sure as hell capable of performing at that level, but the 360 is such a great machine that I'll always find myself wondering "WHAT IF" I'd like to be one of many to showcase what the 360 can truly do.
The ps3's gpu is a 78000gtx in a nutshell its going to have to go up against an r600 without beating around the bush. The technology on the 360 gpu is something you wont see on a pc till nvidia's g80 product line (They mention a unified shader architecture, but not much has been released about anything else) or ati's unreleased r600 product line. The 360 gpu even surpasses the ati r580 which is again unreleased.

The second one is most useful to people that aren't so hip on all the fancy tech jargon and is the simplest (accurate) description I can find for just how good a graphics part the 360 is packing.
Check these links and if you actually read any of it you'll quickly find out that the ps3's g70 graphics processor even though an amazing graphics processor can't possibly hope to beat what is running inside that 360.
As the josh said said you wont see the true power of the ps3 till about a year or 2 after, but the same is true for the 360, but the 360 in a year or 2 from now will have much more to show off especially in the graphics department. You don't have to take my word for it just relax wait for the ps3 to launch and wait a year or 2 and you'll be in for a major shock.
I'm sure everyone here still has it burned in the back of their subconcious how killzone looked on that ps3 demo? Well you've seen nothing yet check what the 360 will be able to pump out a year or 2 from now people.
What you see on ea's fight night for the 360 will if any has played the demo will pale in comparison to what things will look like later on. Sure graphics don't make the console it never has if that was the case the xbox would've done alot better than it did, but once more developers start seeing what the 360 is truly capable of there are developers that will venture to challenge themselves to see just how far they can go. There are alot of developers that always feel "there just isn't enough power there just isn't enough power" regardless of how much power they are given, but the 360 will bring them closer to realizing that vision than the ps3 can.
The 360's gpu is capable of going beyond things we would think weren't possible yet in a video game. How do I know this? How can you possibly take my word for it? I'm currently developing for the 360 and I've been working with the ps3 on my own time (more than a normal person would outside of work) and I would highly recommend the 360. You have the right to not buy a word of what i'm saying, but my response is "wait and see"
Graphics don't make the game, but they surely are the biggest attracting point when it comes to modern games in this day and age and if there is a good flow to the story and it has great gameplay you've got a hit.
#36 when you are at an event of that magnitude you can easily miss alot of things that you could only catch via some sort of televised coverage or the typical internet coverage. You think someone like bill gates gets to see more of what is going on at an event like E3 than the people receiving loads of ign coverage at home? The people at home get the majority of the information the people actually there simply get the experience with some sufficient amount of information if you are lucky, but usually not as much as you'd get from ign or other sites like it.
