Beatles Anthology will arrive on iTunes June 14

US$30?!? They can get to France.

TUAW earphone throwdown: Altec Lansing Muzx Ultra vs. Scosche IDR655m

Sep 19th 2010 10:48AM (TUAW.com)
The woven cord on the Scoshe phones does increase noise a bit, but the main benefit is in the lack of chord tangle - unlike rubberized/plastic cord sleeves, the nylon cord doesn't catch when it knots, so tangle is minimal. I lost count of the number of headphones I've had to write-off because knotted cables resulted in stress and eventually a break on the copper wire.

Have you ever tried to use British public transport? Enjoy the wait.

Couldn't agree more. Get a move on Apple.

iTunes 9.2 adds checkbox for automatic sync of new apps

Jun 21st 2010 6:09AM (TUAW.com)
Yeah, this bugs me too. By default, the iPad gets any app that works on the iPad or the iPhone,. Unfortunately, I don't want any iPhone-only apps on there, just iPad or universal apps.

Apple needs a 'sync only iPad apps' box, or better yet, they need a way to bracket the apps in the pick list, in much the same way they do on iTunes App screen: iPad apps, iPhone apps, iPhone+iPad apps. This would make it a lot easier to check individual apps by compatibility.

Three will carry iPhone 4 in the UK, O2 cuts off unlimited data

Jun 10th 2010 11:40AM (TUAW.com)
So unlimited data cost me £35ppm right now, now 500 Mb is going to cost me... yep, £35ppm. The irony is O2's 3G network is so patchy there's almost no chance of hitting 500Mb in Edinburgh anyway.

According to the BBC O2 is also claiming it is currently spending a staggering GBP£1M per day on upgrades to its network. If this is true, then why hasn't coverage in Scotland improved at all in the last 10 years? I think I've seen that 3G icon maybe four times in the year since I bought my 3GS.

I will be going to Vodafone when my contract is up, I've had enough of this.

Pulse app cheered, then pulled, now back

I can see that gross over-simplification of the approvals process coming back to bite Jobs on the ass. Over and over again.

Pulse app cheered, then pulled, now back

Jun 8th 2010 9:36AM (TUAW.com)
Well, I wonder what will happen here..?

The Pulse devs will surely just pull the NYT from the default feeds and featured add-ins and re-submit it.

This is just moronic. A great app showcases the Times' own short-text RSS feeds and encourages readers to jump straight into the Times' website, ads and all, the paper gives a great write up of the app, and then the News Corp group throws its toys out of the pram. News flash grandad, this is how RSS works. If you feed it, they will come.

I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of people being paid for good journalism, but this is not the way to do it. Old media needs to die, and it needs to die soon.

iPhone 4's multiband antenna makes it a true 'world phone'

Jun 8th 2010 7:31AM (TUAW.com)
Back in 2003, 3 (Hutchison) was selling video chat on its UK 3G network. Sure the handsets were crap and the coverage was patchy, but this was 7 years ago.

AT&T axes unlimited data, unveils tethering price

Jun 2nd 2010 8:45AM (TUAW.com)
This will hurt Apple a lot more than AT&T. Without any competition, it obviously suits AT&T to try to limit the heavy data traffic on their network.

However, I'd have thought that as part of any exclusivity agreement, Apple would still be insisting on the 'unlimited' data plan that they trumpeted when they originally partnered with AT&T.

Maybe the timing of this and Steve's 'no comment' on Verizon might indicate that the exclusivity agreement is up..?
