Could the Escort be reborn as the new small Ford?

Honestly, I'd much rather have a plain unadultrated Mazda 2.

They said prepetual motion in reference to air powered cars in that they were suggesting that an electric compressor could be included onboard the air car which could be powered by compressed air. Unless I'm gravely mistaken, that is indeed prepetual motion.

Wii Warm Up: Coming up next

Metroid. Brawl will be great. Mario will be masterful. Metroid, however, will top all but maybe Zelda in my book.

ABG POLL: Powertrain Technologies

I'm gonna have to ditto Tony on this one (#2). My next car will be a Tesla if I can manage it. I doubt I'll be able to get any 08s, but the 30k sedan might happen. Straight EV needs to be on the poll as well.

VIDEO: Tesla Roadster being tested on ice

If I were in the market, there's only one car that I would get. Anyway, here's why I want an electric car.

#1: Price. For the performance you get from the Tesla Roadster, a comperable gas powered car would generally cost more and guzzle gas. That may not sound like a big deal to some, but add up the total cost of gas for the lifetime of a Lambo then add up the total cost for electricity for the Tesla and I think the difference will be significant.

#2: Exhaust. Walk down a busy street in a large city and you'll probably notice the exhaust. Even with clean burining cars, it adds up. It may not be as big a problem for some people, but exhaust fumes really get to me.

#3: Versatility. Like it or not, there are a lot more ways to get electricity than there are to get gasoline. There are things like solar and hydroelectric that polute almost none. Switching to electric cars would also concentrate the trouble in one place. That way work could be concentrated on improving the efficiency and clean-ness of current power generation technologies, instead of having to worry about cars as well. Electricity's not going to go away any time soon. Gasoline, however, is an ever dwindeling comodity.

Those are the big reasons for me. I hope those are all things that non environmentalists, or even our friends the antienvironmentalists, can appreciate.

Correcting the record on New York's proposed game laws

I don't know the answer to this, because I never watch movies, because I'm too busy playing video games; but is there a similar system in place for x rated movies? How about "adult" magazines? Mature themed television shows? Adult books?

I think the biggest oversight is that preventing the purchase of M rated videogames for minors will NOT stop them from playing them which, from my impression, is what they're trying to prevent.

Detroit Auto Show: Chevrolet Volt Concept

Jan 7th 2007 1:13AM (Autoblog)
I'm not liking it. First minor complaint is that they're calling it an EV. It is most definitely a series hybred.

Second. If Tesla Motors, a small independant company, can get 250 miles in 2.5 hours of charging out of their straight EV using current technology, why can't multimillion dollar, multinational GM get better?

Sorry to seem like a grouch, but there really are better things out there. Still, I'd take it (Volt) over most other cars out there.

Our future does not include an energy monoculture

Agreed. The most sensible tech to me seems to be straight EV; but other techs may be more readily avalible, commercially feasible, or economical.
I think Tesla has the right idea, but I would love a Honda FCX or other cars of the like.

If you're currently sleeping on rocks (ouch) wouldn't you move to a carpeted floor even if it isn't a nice fluffy bed?

Ad critic: cooking with Wii

Dec 27th 2006 3:58PM (Joystiq)
Why is accesability so often used as an excuse for half shod visuals? Zelda is plenty intuitive, yet it boasts some of Wii's best in the visual department. Other than style, there isn't any real excuse for doing a half job on visuals, or any part of a game for that matter.
