Uncharted 3 will use PSN Pass to combat piracy, make money on used games

Oct 1st 2011 10:36PM (Joystiq)
I don't get it... Instead of punishing people for buying it used, why not just reward them for buying it new? Maybe people who buy it new get DLC free later on (it's a popular multiplayer game, it's gonna have DLC). But punishing people for buying it used doesn't seem like the best way to encourage people to buy your product. I'll get it new anyway, though.

Square Enix announces Final Fantasy 10 remake for PS Vita - and PS3

If they keep doing remakes (which I don't mind, occasionally), people will be asking for remakes of the older remakes before any new games will come out.

Wow, let him have an opinion. He doesn't have autism because he wants more customization instead of an interactive story.

BioWare 'figuring out the right way' to continue Mass Effect after ME3

@bloodlinejake
If TOR's successful, then great, go ahead and make a Mass Effect MMO. But if TOR fails, I don't see a whole lot of hope for a Mass Effect MMO in the *near* future.

Valve relaunching Team Fortress 2 as free-to-play title

@Shadow Hog
I hope it's more than a hat. Like someone else commented earlier, F2P games like this are often "pay to win". I hope that people who paid for TF2 -- including me -- will always have access to all weapons/items (through crafting, trading, drops, etc.) even if they're "premium"/paid-for items for people with the F2P version. It's not because I want to be mean to people who get it for free, it's because we already paid for the game and we shouldn't be suddenly locked out of items because the game becomes F2P. Of course, that idea assumes that F2P players don't have access to everything without paying some money.

LulzSec attacks Escapist Magazine, EVE Online, and Minecraft

Yes, it probably will prompt companies to upgrade their servers, but if hackers didn't do this in the first place, there wouldn't be a need, making the efforts unnecessary.

Starhawk's brutal universe detailed in E3 2011 cinematic

I do believe Warhawk had several tutorials. I'm not saying you need to be an expert offline (I was pretty bad at flying) but they do help.

CCP shares big plans for Dust 514 and EVE Online at E3

Jun 14th 2011 12:30PM (Joystiq)
This sounds great, and it's great to continue to keep the EVE universe affected by actual people (instead of taking planets from AI pirates or something), but is it required for EVE players to hire Dust 514 players? That could lead to problems. What happens when PSN is down for maintenance? EVE players can't do any of this stuff? Also, I know it said you can't use the same character in both games, but can you link accounts and share ISK? That would be helpful for some people.

inFamous 2 mission designer mode dissected on video

If they can't allow complete voice-overs, it'd be cool if there could be some pre-made voice options like, "Go to ____." or "Help! I'm being attacked by _____!" They couldn't create that for every phrase imaginable, but it may help a little bit.

Minecraft's weather, stats and achievements previewed on video

@Mr McChew
I don't think lightning will set anything on fire. Rain is supposed to remove fires, so I don't think any fires would be started. I would like to see lightning cause damage, though. I don't want my small wooden house to get destroyed on the first night, but knocking down a tree once in a while would be cool.
