Slow news day? C'mon, do you really get news from this site? You get links to other sites that broke the news with Joystiq's snarky comments on it. That's basically it. When was the last news story that Joystiq broke? Hmm, was it the secret next-gen news (read: Nintendo's got da chipz! If I could do a strike-through on the last few words then I'd qualify as a Joystiq "journalist") they had to wait until 12am to reveal? Nope, that was hyping of news that was already on sites like kokatu. Joystiq should stay out of these Maury Povich unmaskings and stick to hyping news.
"This isn't a post about the PSP at all. It's a post about English bloggers in Japan who mislead their readership about the state of affairs in Japan. "
Weren't you the guy that posted the article about the "NES classic" Paperboy going to XBOX live? This from a Midway press release that trumpeted the release of the more popular UMK3 to XBOX live and from Paperboy being released for just about every home system that existed at that time.
Slow news day? C'mon, this is no Nintendo game. Vladimir is just trying to create a story when there is none. Classic Nintendo would be Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Excitebike, etc. Hell, I'll even throw in some 3rd party games like Contra and Tecmo Bowl. These are games you could only play on an NES or waw popularized on it. I remember playing Paperboy at Showbiz Pizza and then on my C64 WAY before the NES showed up. By the time they did port it to the NES, it's shelf life was definitely over. This is just Blair sexing up the intelligence. What's the next headline-- Live gets classic SNES Street Fighter 2 and classic NES Ms Pac Man?
"What I'd like to see is a break down of the two company's profits on their systems and their royalties on their games. I mean, if Sony is able to sell 1 PSP vs everday 2 DSes sold, is that really a bad thing? ($300 for one vs $300 for two) "
Besides everyone pointing out that Sony loses money for every PSP vs. Nintendo making money on the DS, do you realize 2 DSes for every 1 PSP means the DS has a larger installed base? That means 3rd parties will normally make the most money on a DS game versus a PSP game. (I'll also throw in that it's much cheaper to develop for the DS than the PSP.) This in turn will attract more developers. More developers creating more games means more people will want to buy a DS. And in the end, doesn't the largest installed base define who wins the console/handheld wars? How long have you been following video game news?
