Is your PC rig ready for Crysis?

Jul 24th 2006 4:38AM (Joystiq)
Dont forget PC hardware prices drop relativley fast and Vista wont be out until christmas, I expect you can get some great bargins in the Janaruary sales for a PC that can run the recommended specs.

Games shipping this week

sputnik I think your forgetting a little games consoles called the N64 but dont worry an agent from the Carrington Institute will be along shortley to "educate" you on the situation.

As for BFME2 I wouldnt buy it, it still uses the horrid Sage engine and is made by EA those facts alone are enough not to (but you will probably see what I mean when you play heh) and when compared to other games in the genre (Dawn of War, Rome:Total war) its competant but not great, I expect it to go over well with the console crowd as they lack "uber micro" :P

Honestly if you want to play RTS games just buy the WC3 battlechest for your PC, the custom maps and game modes alone will give you more entertainment than BFME2.

New Call of Duty 3 details highlight immersive environments [update 1]

Jun 16th 2006 12:58AM (Joystiq)
Apart from the wind and smoke effects (which im not to sure about) everything on that list has already been done before a million times over, so if smoke and wind effects are the only things making this game more immersive compared to the Wii then thats pritty damn laughable. Hey developers how about putting all that power to better use like making all the buildings fully destructable? When a tank shell makes the house your in collapse thats immersive, not when it drives through some smoke and makes a woosh effect.

Plus its a ww2 game played from the POV of the allies, snore. Wake me up when these developers put me in the role of a axis soldier.

PC Halo 2 update

May 16th 2006 12:01PM (Joystiq)
Actually in halo 2 M&K wouldn't give alot of advantage because Halo has always been very consoley with things like jumping and gun recoil. Of course why anyone would buy Halo 2 I don't know, it will be what? Over 2 years old when launched for Vista, and will be up against things like Quake wars and Crysis, really I dont see the point.

F.E.A.R. confirmed for Xbox 360, this time it's official

May 5th 2006 3:13AM (Joystiq)
FEAR wasnt that great, its good at the start and then well it just gets repetative. Of course this port is going to lose something in the transition, they always do, a controller is just not as precise as a M&K and that means your going to have to dumb it down. What we should have got was not a port but a spin off built from the ground up to utilise the consoles abilities but its easier and cheaper to make a most likly not as good port and sell it for full price. I wouldn't get excited for this.

Head-up displays: limiting immersion?

Feb 6th 2006 12:55PM (Joystiq)
The Republic commando heads up display was great, especially when you went in for the melee kills and blood splattered on it obscuring your view till the window wiper could clean it off, made the game feel more immersive.

EA announces new Xbox 360 Lord of the Rings

Jan 13th 2006 4:25PM (Joystiq)
Wow this game is going to be so dumbed down its not even funny.

It will probably end up just being a select units>attack move affair.

They are probably banking on stupid people who own a 360 buying it so they can say "we have an rts, haha pc people lose"
