I doubt you can go to the atlantic. The whole point of the show is alaskan fishing. Bering sea. Pacific ocean... maybe. The atlantic is a bajillion miles away.

Its a common browser feature. It has to do with the DNS service you are getting. The dns actually takes the text and finds the real site. Some DNS's are better and will auto adjust missing url postfixes and even typos in some cases. Opendns does both, I think.
