Joystiq hands-on with the new PSP

Jul 12th 2007 5:58PM (Joystiq)
I find that the changes from phat to lite and the changes from the old PSP to the new PSP are very similar. Think about it. They're both redesigns, changing the placement of the microphone/headphone jack/ON lights. The hardware for each of them has slightly increased (i.e. Battery life and brightness for the DS, RAM for the PSP), they're buttons have become more resistant, and they've both become lighter and glossier.
Had the L button on my Phat not died, I probably wouldn't have traded it in for a Lite (BTW, the Lite's shoulder buttons both died, the hinge cracked AND the entire top screen would just die at inconvenient times. Thankfully I was able to replace it (again)). I'm going to tell people what I said when the DS Lite came out; don't bother getting it if you have the old one, but if you're new to the market or you're filthy stinkin' rich (how many gamers are!?!) go ahead and get it.

Nintendo announces online Wii Mario Kart, Wii Wheel

Jul 11th 2007 1:38PM (Joystiq)
There have only been five MK games before this one; SNES, N64, GBA and the Cube version. The final fantasy series numbers 13 games, and sure they changed a bit every game, but the first ones especially are very similar. Does it have an excuse because it's not a racing game? Well, one cannot forget that Project Gotham 8 is coming out soon, along with Nascar 08. And what about those MLB, Madden, golf and even Mario Party games that come out every year? Aren't they the franchises you should be going after.
Mario Kart releases one game per Nintendo console, not 3, so it's not a big deal.

DS Daily: More technical difficulties

Jul 2nd 2007 1:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
my phat DS' L button broke, but luckily the EB games near my house (which, thank god, has a great, honest, employee) replaced my old DS for a Lite. Awesome, eh? about 8 months later, BOTH buttons were gone, the hinge was craked on the inside and half the time the top screen would die out, forcing me to attempt to save my game from memory of buttons (always weird on pokemon, I try to save and I open my bag instead). thankfully, nintendo's great customer service paid for delivery to the center and they had it fixed and sent back in about two weeks. so far, no problems yet.

US Army using Xbox 360 controller in Future Combat Systems tests

Feb 5th 2007 7:56PM (Joystiq)
Is it just me, or does that robot look slightly like ROB?

So, let me get this straight, the US Army is using a 360 controller to operate ROB in order to take out possible snipers, creating further terrorism. That terrorism then incites more terrorists to go out snipe America, therefor making an even bigger demand for snipe stopping ROBs controlled by 360 controllers.

Well, the higher demand may upgrade the controllers to wireless. LOL

Ohhhh Canada, you could win a giant Link

Now this is something that I'm proud of being Canadian for. Otherwise, we don't get as much as America. I really missed out on those Reggie shirts. =(

Wii Startup Disc is (surprise!) a set up disk

Nov 3rd 2006 5:52PM (Joystiq)
Hmmm. If the Wii Start Up Disk is only for a firmware update, might Nintendo come out with more, like the PSP? And if so, will they be downloadable from the internet? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
