I've always said that if I were going to college today, I'd bring an all-in-one computer with a TV tuner built in and use it as my ultimate dorm room media center. Then I'd get some crappy netbook to sling around to classes.

So that's my suggestion. I'd say get one of the AIO PCs with a tuner built in, or get an iMac and a USB tuner dongle. I won't recommend one platform over the other, just to get something that will handle all your entertainment needs. That way you and your roommate can watch different things.

Oh, and some good headphones...

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. I signed up the day - practically the hour - that the Android version of the software was released (also the day the iPhone version was released), and I'm still waiting here without a way to use a credit card in my business. I had told several clients in APRIL that I'd soon be accepting credit cards. I now look a little silly because of that promise. I don't accept any sort of "by the end of summer" prediction. I accept "we're sending out your card reader today." But like I said, I'll believe it when I see it.

Also, Jack Dorsey needs to smile more. He has to be one of the most dour people I've ever seen. Sorry, Jack.

Ah, I loved my Game Gear.

I wonder if the Game Gear was specifically suited for this job. I remember that I had an add-on that would let me plat Sega Master System games on my Game Gear (which was totally cool). Perhaps that made it a little easier to do this mod? Probably not... :)

Like other commenters, I remember how badly that GG sucked batteries. Good lord! I remember having this huge external battery pack that let me get about an hour of playing. Yikes!

Oh, and I had the TV adapter that let me watch live TV at recess. I was the coolest kid on the playground (what a dork!).

I just hope that at THIS press conference, the press won't be applauding Apple like they do at the product releases.

That's always bothered me. The press is supposed to be objective, and to hear them cheering for the stuff that's going on onstage always bugs me...

Darn. How about a little advance notice, Engadget? Sheesh! Doesn't the show tape in the afternoon? So did you post this AFTER you appeared on it? I was out yesterday evening so I didn't see the post...

Wow, $300? I know it does somethings differently than Fitbit, but it's only $99 and there's no monthly fee for the web site...

@joshl Sorry, but you can't do that. You have to already have received a reader, which is a bit of a Catch 22.

Thanks for posting about this, Engadget! I've been annoyed by this backlog for a while. And the text that was added to the image is so true. I signed up for a Square reader the day they released the iPhone and Android clients, so unless you were an iPad owner, most likely you don't have a reader right now.

Oh well, I'll be happy to see higher limits on transactions. It would have made my business difficult to run the way it was, so I'll be very curious to see what they increase the limit to.

Engadget seems to be kind of...bad at making polls. They always seem to miss one major option, like the "No" option here. What is with you guys, Engadget? I love ya, but you really need to do a better job with these polls.

Am I the only one having problems using this to push Maps content to my phone? Youtube works fine, but when I push something like a Maps directions, it will open Maps on my phone but it just shows my current position. It doesn't do anything else. What am I doing wrong here?
