British network ITV responds to Apple iTV rumor, says it has 'vigorously defended' its IP before

Aug 13th 2010 12:26PM (Engadget)
@TheRealCJ ITV might be a brand which has existed for years, but truth be told I see them as cheaper, tackier television than others such as Channel 4 and BBC.

If Apple were to try and adopt the iTV name here in the UK, I could see that as a bad move, not only for the trademark implications it involves, but also due to the connotations the brand has. Yeah ITV is relatively popular in the UK for shows such as X Factor, but they're not Apples audience. So because of that, Apple's audience may see this iTV device as cheap and linked to ITV the broadcaster.

@vidoardes FYI, Britain's Got Talent was adapted from America's Got Talent, the US came first in that one

Screenshots emerge of Steam Linux client, BeOS wonders if it's next

May 3rd 2010 10:58PM (Engadget)
@Beefstu Yeah, but looking at steam.sh, it has some interesting comments.

display dialog "Steam is only supported on Intel-based Macs." buttons "Exit" default button 1 with title "Unsupported Architecture" with icon stop

display dialog "Steam Requires OSX 10.5 or greater" buttons "Exit" default button 1 with title "Unsupported Operating System" with icon stop

But you're right, there are some hardcoded Linux32 references in there

Breaking: Twitter acquires Tweetie, will make it official and free

Apr 9th 2010 9:56PM (TUAW.com)
"Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks."

That's a slap in the face for previous owners like myself, and if they flood it with iAds I'll be even more pissed

iPhone 4.0 event coming April 8

Apr 5th 2010 1:59PM (TUAW.com)
A beta firmware image will more than likely be released for paying iPhone developers.

A notch in the major version number means there should be plenty of changes under the hood, and developers need to test for them.

If your giving credit to Engadget for the image, does that mean TUAW didn't get an invite?

Only joking ;-)
1 feature I 99% expect to be in OS 4.0 is the unified inbox, which Jobs sorta confirmed via email reply.

Another iPhone video conferencing rumor surfaces

I'm not convinced, I think it's a gaffe on O2s part.

Since they've introduced the Simplicity tariff for the iPhone, I think all they've done is copied the price list from the normal Simplicity tariff, and forgot to remove the features that normal phones have!

I saw this on TV a week or so ago, brilliant. That's why I love E4.

...I have noticed you've tagged this as BBC though? Totally different network!
