Minecraft 1.1 update adds languages, eggs and regenerative sheep

@Scuffles Spose you could still use the wiki tho -- less it restricted building to only things you've found blueprints for.

I agree with Adrian tho would be better to be able to find blueprints instead of using a wiki. Keep you "in the game" more.

Renegade Ops DLC adds vehicles, continues campaign storyline

@Timjoy Yea I was pleasantly surprised when I went to the dlc page and it said I already own it :) I was going to buy it too heh.

Also of note I think you only get it free if you already owned the base game on steam, and pre-order isn't necessary as I got it free and only bought the game a few weeks ago.

@oldfordfreak How is it bad? Its compressed streaming video thats how its bad. You don't have the ability to change options or mod thats how its bad. You will always get lag unless we break the speed of light thats how its bad.

Its just bad.

Sony still holding out hope for Flash support on Vita

@Ballistic H Im a programmer. Flash isn't any more a resource hog then anything else. It all depends on what you are making and how good you are at programming. For example you can create a game in flash thats less resource intensive then a game made with javascript, and vice versa.

@Ballistic H Hah you are exactly the type of brainwashed person I'm talking about. Please, PLEASE show me a site that does ANYTHING that is purely just html on its own. No includes. Just html"5". That would be amazing.

What is it do you think that the "5" has added to this particular markup language. Do you actually think its now possible to make a game or something with it by itself? Its not a programming language heh.

And the "flash is a resource hog" is total garbage. Another example of marketing at work. People like to say its 'unsecure' too heh. How much resources it takes up and how secure it is is totally up to how competent the dev is and how much the developer cares and also depends on what the developer is making. Just like anything else. Making a non flash site/program can be just as resource intensive or unsecure depending on what you are doing. Thats the part to remember. All sites/programs are different so you can't just blanket "all flash is bad" because there are some bad programmers out there. By those standards all languages suck...not just actionscript.

"how prolific HTML5 has become"

You mean javascript right? Its really funny to me how well marketing has been at getting people to think html5 is some new technology thats actually doing anything different.

OnLive is putting six new indie games online this fall

@Knives Chau

Yea I mean I get that and really it does make sense there. But if only it stays there as an option for those situations and not a replacement for local play/storage.

Problem is that everyone's hardware becomes obsolete at some point. When this occurs, does the person buy new hardware, or give into the convenience of not having to upgrade and use a streaming service instead. A lot of this depends on marketing as well. Throw enough money at the marketing and more people are bound to give into it and then boast about all the buzzwords the ad said they have now (I just loves my HD!).

I realize this is just hypothetical talk about the future and maybe slightly off track of the orginal topic -- but when you see how well people have adopted streaming movies/tv regardless of it being a major downgrade in quality its makes it seem like this could easily happen with games. This theoretical future of low quality gaming for all is just not something I'd like to promote personally. I guess I shouldn't be too worried till we start seeing exclusive games on these services tho...

@CoolBreeze221

Speaking of netflix type comparisons...if you start thinking about the other bad things that can happen when you give all the control to someone else like that : For example on amazon (instant) I OWN Inception -- like not just rented but own it. Currently I can't watch/download it and it has the notice "Due to our licensing agreements this video is currently not available for online viewing or downloading." Thats not the first time its happened either.

Its speculation I know...but still...I freaking guarantee this type of crap will occur on streaming game services in the future as well.

On a side note -- do NOT buy movies off of amazons digital service heh.
