Wii is two duct taped Gamecubes and other publisher rants

Mar 8th 2007 12:11PM (Joystiq)
I have a Wii and enjoy playing on it. Obviously the experience is relative to the user, but that's how it's always going to be. No one is going to agree with you if they don't believe what you believe, and vice versa. Even though the Wii might not be the technological powerhouse that the PS3 and 360 are, it never was trying to be. I agree that complex AI, realistic physics and graphics matter, but I also like being able to pick up and go, as with the Wii and the controller. It can't push graphics boundaries like the others, but what it does, it does well.

Japanese Virtual Console gets two new systems

That's great news. But yeah, hopefully the Neo Geo games don't cost significantly more than any of the other titles offered currently in the VC. And pardon my ignorance, but what is the MSX?

Wii Fanboy review: Wii Play

Feb 20th 2007 11:23AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I like Wii Play, even if it lacks any real depth. It's simple, easy to pick up, and great to play with other people. I didn't really need a 3rd controller, but I bought Wii Play nonetheless because it's something I can pick up and play with someone who doesn't play videogames.

Hard questions: Wii novelty and drought in effect?

Feb 18th 2007 3:15PM (Joystiq)
I consider myself a casual gamer and I enjoy the Wii greatly. Obviously it is relative to the user, but I enjoy it nonetheless. I never thought of the novelty wearing off, only because it's fun and the whole drought aspect doesn't affect me much, if at all. I play with the Wii when I can and it's great for when I have friends or family over who haven't experienced it yet.

Here's looking forward to Cooking Mama, Mario Party and Super Paper Mario in the next couple of months.

Metareview: Wii Play

Feb 15th 2007 2:17PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I think the game is fun regardless. It does lack depth, but I don't think it was created to be taken deeper than what meets the eye. When you play the minigames with another person, it becomes a lot more enjoyable and competitive.

I also do not think it is intended to hold your attention for long amounts of time. Since Wii Play is a mini-game compilation, I tend to play for a little bit and come back and play some more some other time. I think this game sits great for the inexperienced or casual gamer.

PlayStation 3 launches March 23 in Europe, £425

Jan 25th 2007 12:07AM (Joystiq)
I enjoy my Nintendo Wii and I'm also looking forward to what it will have in store in the future. Right now, the PS3 just isn't doing anything for me that the 360 can do as well. The $500-600 price tag here is already high enough for me and although the pound trades at a higher exchange rate as does the euro, the price is still pretty high from my perspective.

Although I do not own a 360 or PS3, if I was to choose between the two I would go for the 360 personally. I still think the PS3 is a great work of technology, but it feels like it is up against some tough competition between the 360 which seems more than capable of doing the PS3 can do graphically thus far, and the Wii, which is the most affordable and seems the most fun to me.
