Finally, Harlequin romance novels on DS

Jan 23rd 2010 11:40AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
No. really?!? DX - Okay, any type of genre instead of Harlequin mambo jumbo would suffice. The poison that those books causes as stereotype of how we guys have to be so perfect for the ladies is stupid now in the year 2010. Otherwise anything original and better inspiring is accepted. Those books are stone age reading without trying to make our society better by making men to over the top and suppressing women with an image that isn't real.

... as you see, I have a couple of issues with this specifically. If anything, that genre must die. Pretty much this is the prelude to the uninspired horrific twilight book series of pure bullshit. And many different "damsel in distress" uninspired stories ... (cough *mario, cough!)

... Okay, that's just my opinion - sorry for the rant. I couldn't resist. (I lovez me some mario pie btw! XD)

Joker brings the funnies in latest Arkham Asylum trailer

Feb 3rd 2009 12:34AM (Joystiq)
More Facial Animation is needed to create a better feeling of suspension of disbelief! Voice is perfect, but the animation isn't helping much with being believable. If there were more facial animations than just dolls talking, then it would be very nice. I guess this is what happens when they go hyper detail on a model character like batman and Joker. Joker especially needs more facial animation and synq up the voice right. What I see is things are a bit too loose here, and is making everything look bad which is not.

So these people should put more emphasis on animation so it can be realistic. The kicks and other fight stuff that goes on in it isn't what I'm talking about but more about emotion conveying the characters like joker. Right now I'm not convinced about the game in the trailer. If it's something cinematic that they are trying to convey then it's not selling personally to me. Again the VOICE work is perfect, but the joker needs to be more alive than a puppet. I find it off sync, and bothersome a bit.

Iwata: We're looking into the Flash Memory situation

May 2nd 2008 1:25AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
lol people please, take it easy. This is nintendo, remember? They take a slow baby step at a time. If they want to compete and charm the developers to make WiiWare games for the system, then the logic OBVIOUSLY will come to upgrading the Wii's system memory. I feel so that Nintendo will release an updated Wii with more system memory, just like the ipod.

Though if they are REALLY gonna upgrade, it will be simply by updating the wii via Wiiconnect24 and releasing a driver so that people can use a storage device via the USB, just like the secret update that enabled the usb keyboard use. WiiWare will take a BIG chunk of memory folks, and I never thought about it until I installed Mario Kart Channel the other night, seeing that I have 533 blocks left...

Iwata knows, and he will fix the problem accordingly. It's like they know of a nuclear strike, and they have already set a top secret move that only pink panther will perform!

Nintendo releases first Mario Kart Wii tournament

May 2nd 2008 12:57AM (Joystiq)
How in the hell can you get 1:40:xxx ?!!?!? Do you need to open up new cars or bikes that can go faster? Isn't just your regular bike fast enough? I only did 2:00 but can't never really break that time.

Is there something I'm missing?

Wii Warm Up: The spice of life

Apr 15th 2008 3:34AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Oh damn! Here I go!

I understand the feelings underwhelming Smash Bros. I too love and hate the series. I love it because finally you get an all-star cast to fight with one another and fight with friends, but wanted the controls to be more tighter and to have a better multi-verse storyline (or a deeper gameplay mechanics in story mode with better twist and turns in the plot). I'm an ancient RPG gamer at heart (Me LOVES FINAL FANTASY & Chrono Trigger!) so the storyline wasn't deep enough for me in Smash, and the other modes didn't really bring me in like I had before 6 years ago (just because it's the same again).
Guess time is a factor on how you game. I love competing in Smash Bros with friends but not alone and I was cool about having two-player co-op in adventure mode but I just wish you could get deeper somehow in the game (without the kiddish idea of stickers making your character stronger).

Metroid I never really got into at all. I finally downloaded the original (even in case playing the emulated ROM 10 years ago), it's just too boring some how to play it without any idea at all. You simply get lost in the game. I get lost for hours, and finally give up. Super metroid I was a bit happier, but still, I just didn't do well playing Metroid because I just get lost for hours in frustration trying to find the end.
The same goes with the FPA (first person Adventure!) games of metroid prime series. For the first time ever, I did beat a metroid game and that was the easy as all hell Metroid Prime for gamecube. Yet I was not gonna track through it again once I did. The flavor that left me was crude. I simply felt it needed more depth for me to feel like returning back again.
I feel like an old person now, playing dominos and monopoly before my mario's and sonic. I always go back to play Wii sports after my adventures with the other games. I can't wait until Wii Sports 2 comes! lol Just wonder if they are gonna do the same crap again though.

I only see games come out without any depth. Like I said before, I'm an RPG gamer at heart, I'm unique when it comes to the styles of what I like to play, but it's been such a long time since square or nintendo made a good RPG game (been waiting since the 16-bit era). Finding any other RPGs out there is hard because I try to find the quality that is now lost (I'm gonna get Odin Sphere later...)
Super Paper Mario, wasn't as cool in overall in comparison to Paper Mario for the n64. I know it's a different game but everyone always wants more, you know? They wanted more from Paper Mario for the gamecube (in which I just purchased the game and gonna play it soon). It's the feeling of walking around the world with your fav character and doing stuff that you don't do in regular mario platforming adventures (or anything to do with regular Mario games period in that fact). I would love Nintendo to do a Mii MMO or a Mii Quest of some kind so I can compete and adventure with my friends though. The 1 player experience is nice, but I want to live it after I beat it. Some replay value like Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana (more so like Seiken densetsu 3 where you play two-player co-op and choose set of characters to get a different ending).

Now I have another point to get across! I don't really like super gory violent games like Manhunt. lol It's too insane for me, which is my own opinion and choosing of course. GTA I never got into because it's like metroid, I get lost in a world and I don't have a clue what am I suppose to do, so I shoot people in frustration! (Virtual people ok?) lol And to add, Halo 3 was good playing with a friend, but alone sucks bollaz. It's not an FPS but a third person shooter and I'm ok, but overall I get overwhelmingly shot from trying to figure out who is the bad guy and I just don't care anymore so I lose interest and drop the controller. I know it is childish, but I have no fun trying to enjoy such a game because I'm a big idiot when it comes to it.

I got more confessions damn it! But I'm done now. Thanks for reading Amigos! You know now though that, "I fight for my friends!" - Ike

EA exec wants a single gaming platform

Oct 19th 2007 10:24PM (Joystiq)
Wow, guess I see many don't know that its best to make one than mulitiple players to play mulitple format games that should be just one player that could broadcast all of the games. Like a modem conneting you to the internet, a unified game player should be. That's why I stick to one system but the situation forced on me to get another system for a game that later will be ported to my system of choice(RE4) (exclusivities are only my choices and I skip EA altogether). ITs ridiculous, it should be like the movies where you go and see the movie of choice in a theatre. Once everyone realize how childish is to split the same thing 5 times to reach your select audience it will be clear that one day there will be one unified system that will play all.

That Ideal is already happening with our old games via all three major systems (wii, ps3, xbox360). In 10 years time maybe we will see the winner optical format take in emulation of all our past games. Even sony proved that backwards compatibility is key in the market to continue the legacy of games. Microsoft is doing well with its xbox live Arcade, and Nintendo is proving it even more that all games should be in one system serving up Neo Geo games on the Wii. Soon all will end up in one place and that service will be provided by something similar to a cable company or satellite provider.

I remember that when SNES was released, many consumers were confused that you couldn't play NES games on it (of course the uneducated didn't know but obviously we do even if the logo was on it). The reason why is because we as consumers are used to one player to do everything, we think that one name brand means everything in that one subject. I remember a time where the real competition was in content in creation of the art, not on how powerful the player is capable off. If that's the deal, then guess that's why the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

If the true focus would be for us, then we would be enjoying a standard that would be regulated. No company will be responsible of this unified system, only a business group who will regulate the core of this business (um... the FCC or something similar to such effect). IF worried that EA will take over? That's a joke then, but my vote is on regulating the market so it can focus better on its art.

This is why we have to see out of the box about this. You never would imagine a world that they will accept video games in our social life because of this ignorant narrow stance that games have to be done by private companies that waste the same amount that we do buying the games they make. That's why we have public access channels to give us freedom to express as an art. If games would stay the way it is, the market can eventually collapse by its own weight. Graphics like money is just part of the game, you need the whole ingredient to make a game fun. That's why the niche will never grow if our mind will never let itself expand. Some will be scared of change, and wish things to stay the way it is though I don't stand it to be like it is. I want change, and I want all of us to benefit and it can be if everyone takes peace to it.

I believe one day I will be downloading gears of war on my entertainment system in which MS will take part like they do on the web against google and yahoo. One great competitive world when all the big wigs go for your buck by giving you all kinds of entertainment that is not limited to just games alone in one unified game player.

Competition will always be there even if the player is only one. Like cable TV, there are many companies who compete for your time. Like Cell phone companies, they try to get your money to use their service plan but the competition is in the actual service plan they offer. The unified game player will only be a player that will play all and be all. Who will be behind it will be the one group who regulates it bureaucratically by a group who will tell the others what to do like the government tell you the tax payer to pay taxes.

If change is good for everyone to have one player (hell even, intergrate it in a TV set or something of a "smart TV" or "entertainment center" where all devs can have fun making games for it) this will open a new competing nature to create the best artful video game without concentration of who has the power of what over whatever. We the consumer have this power to choose, because like any media format, it ends with us.

EA exec wants a single gaming platform

Oct 19th 2007 3:45PM (Joystiq)
I say if it was one platform, it would copy the market of the Television. Even the television didn't see much change until now. HD TV sets are penetrating many house holds and soon even a bum will have one. Same should be with one format that plays on TV. One patent that all companies share to make the market move.

eventually though natural selection will take place and one format will be in place in the future where anyone can even work with it. One tool that can read all languages and one player that can play all formats so all of us can communicate as one.

One example of such thing is the telephone. We have cell phones with video and programs. We have this evolution going into messengers who now can handle all in one program. If our nature is true, eventually we will have one game player that can play all formats and be able to broadcast all of our ideas.

but it ain't happening in a LONG while. It took the dino a while to turn into birds, so this may take a bit.

Could Nintendo have ruined Mario Kart?

Oct 13th 2007 2:10AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I love MK:DD hands down. IF I had the power to make another version of Mario Kart, I would add DD Option. When I entered LAN mode with my buddies, that was pure frantic Fun! Never in all the Mario Karts have I ever experience that crazy level of fun.

So if Nintendo puts motorcycles in the game, then so be it. I just hope we get more variation and selection. Hell, the best thing Nintendo can perfect this game is if they create a channel for content just for the game. Like Wii Fit, they should create a channel where you can customize anything in the game and tell you stats and info where you are in the leaderboard or whatever extra content in which you can download later to add in-game. Then I will be in paradise with Mario Kart.

Watch Sonic school Mario, turn Super Sonic in Brawl

What's wrong with the theme song from sonic adventure? Its so similar to Power rangers that I sometimes think that the green ranger is about to appear out of nowhere.

Wii Warm Up: Nintendo next

Aug 16th 2007 5:33PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
my thoughts about the next gen?

Well, after noticing the potential of wiiconnect24 within this generation and the comment nintendo did about HD on the wii, its highly possible later in time via an update that our wii might get the privilage to play in HD (at least in 720p).

but for the next gen, my thoughts is an advanced version of wii. Of course as expected, i don't see nintendo adding a hard drive at all in any future generation. My thoughts only indicate that nintendo will continue use of flash memory to expand on the size it currently uses. maybe add about 4gigs next time in the future.

Now If we are predicting this new "wii" to come in around 2010, then we might see a new technology implemented in the next round. This could be anything wild that we might wiki it and find. Though what kind of technology? The hell I know! My guess is something that is cheap enough for nintendo & company to profit on our hungry dreams in playing games.

Now the only thing we should do is not dissapoint ourselves about what is to come. We shouldn't mind about tomorrows generation of gaming. We should enjoy what we have now and let us be surprised about the gifts that may come tomorrow.

I'm 26 years old, and knowing nintendo's habits, its nothing like the competition. They tend to survive with new ideas. learning through the years, nintendo will dissapoint you in every wish you make. That is why my attitude with this subject is null. I might put my thoughts here what I want to see, but in the end you are setting yourself up for a fall.
so my fellow fanboys, live life to the fullest and dont mind tomorrows gaming world because you the fanboy control its destiny.
