Wii Warm Up: Old-school flavor

Jan 18th 2007 12:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have a classic controller, and for the looks of it they might do something similar to Dragon Ball Z:BT2. IF they do, I will love nintendo forever.

If a third party did quiet a good job (Just for being the first game to have multi-input device type of game) They can surely do with Smash Bros. I don't mind if they did add Wiimote function as an option, I would play it anyways to see how they intergrate something like that.

If Nintendo adds all three as choices (and BTW DBZ:BT2 you can mix up your controls i.e. Wave Bird Vs Classic Controls and Wiimote Vs whatever both) Then wii have a winner here folks.

If Mad Catz can release just before a Wiimote holder for the Classic controller, then I'll jump and buy it because it does get in the way when you are in the peak of battle.

Here is hoping for the best.

Note: I don't know why nintendo didn't do something clever like a controller attachment for both input devices when they launched the system before?

Gates now sees Nintendo as primary competition

You guys are forgetting that Blue dragon is driving up Xbox360 sales in japan.

If Square did it for sony, they will most definitely do it for Microsoft. Square was the company responsible in pushing all the units in japan when FF7 came out (For PSX), now and again Square will drive the sales of 360s in japan with blue dragon.

And once that game got released the past month, its been overselling in japan.

Xbox360 is not dead yet in the land of the rising sun so check your data when you post. (Blue Dragon beat wii sales of Wii Sports and Pokemon battle Revolution when it debuted in japan selling systems with it as well)

So when SquareEnix releases FF13 and its sequels, that will be the time when Ps3 will shine and it will show that RPGs reign stronger as a genre than any other.

So don't count 360 off just yet. (MS should follow in the footsteps of square to produce more RPGs for the japanese markets than FPS which is unappealing for them because they are peaceful people who feels that need to save the world, not kill virtual human beings or alien monsters with ultra violence, but with magic!)

Oops! Sony declares SIXAXIS Emmy, Emmys say "uh-uh"

Jan 10th 2007 1:19PM (Joystiq)
God damn.

Sony is like homer simpson trip'n down the damn stairs though you expect it to stop, but it just keeps on going down to the point where it feels that sony will never get out of this.

Even now Peter moore is slamming sony for having the worse damn online service. Peter went as far as to say that sony should copy them. Then we have this noncense going about with a stupid emmy. This is too much, the poor company now looks like its being fucking pushed around in all directions.

This is enough, ENOUGH! Its funny yes, but god damn it's enough already. I'm a nintendo fanboy, and I think this is just too fucked up that sony is trip'n around. Some how some way they(sony) should just shut up, focus and stop talking to the media for being jerks with all of this madness.

For the looks, Microsoft has won this fight hands down and sony is being rediculed to the point that I"m going insane about it. In the meanwhile nintendo is quiet in the corner giggling about all of this nonsense. At least Nintendo proved that they can match sony's strength in competition by releasing in the same season but everyone knows that we are still too early to say anything yet. This fight was 10 years in the making and finally people see that sony is not suited to push the gaming industry. They only did it for revenge, and they failed miserably. So finally nintendo learned the leasons needed to focus and work what they do best with everything they got (and finally the old president isn't overlooking nintendo much which is a relief) so this is a new nintendo with a better sense of purpose. So now sony is showing its true colors, but this whole mess is unnesessary.

Remember boys and girls, Karma is a thing people should not play with, or it will bite them in the ass when they least suspect it.

PAL Wii owner pulls the ol' region-switch to access more VC titles

Dec 14th 2006 1:45PM (Joystiq)
humph!

Well, that throws out the credit card to get the japanese games. Man, I want Donkey Kong Country and Metroid 1.

I need more heroin, I mean Wiid to get my fix!

BTW ~ some third party GC games that play on Wii have no Anti-alias on certain objects that require special GC effects. - So it isn't much like Gamecube, its a wii that can play GC games!

PS1/PS2 graphics look like crap on PS3

Dec 13th 2006 3:45PM (Joystiq)
Sheppy,

You are darn right! We need this healthy competition to strike a balance in the game industry. Without Sony employing the successful technics of Nintendo, and Microsoft mirroring sony's success in the ps2 by making the the uniqueness that it has then the world would be a boring place to be in.

Mind you, thanks to sony, Nintendo is now a changed company. They still have their arrogance, but because sony shut them up with the playstation line, Nintendo had to transform to survive. The best place would be at the heart of their income, the handheld market.

As for Microsoft, they ain't bored no more by making updates to Windows or by creating flight simulations, now they are a force to be reckon with.

3 fighting powers, 1 goal.

oh I love this!

(GOD BLESS MICROSOFT FOR XNA EXPRESS!!!)

PS1/PS2 graphics look like crap on PS3

Dec 13th 2006 3:33PM (Joystiq)
Ps3 will do better the next version. I feel as well that sony forced their release. Why can't they just simply do better by just not hyping and just deliver the goods? If they can't talk the talk, and walk the walk, why continue to be stupid with themselves?

Well, here is hoping they perfect Nintendo's Wii technology and make the market broader.

PS1/PS2 graphics look like crap on PS3

Dec 13th 2006 2:51PM (Joystiq)
Oh yes, PS3 has the hiccups like its older brothers when it was first released.

When Ps2 was streaming about the world when it first came out, there were technical flaws that developers where rambling about then. One of them was that Ps2 games were really running in - half - of the TV resolution, but within the Ps2 hardware, it output in normal 480i (Google that please!). Logically thinking if this was the case, then ps3's new video hardware is having a bit of a strain because of the complexities that ps2 originally has.

In comparason to GC's video hardware, that's not a fair match up to the reality of the complexities of the ps2. GC was made for the future, ps2 was made for the present. GC's consistency is made out by the same hardware maker, ATI and IBM. While Ps2's hardware was brought by sony and toshiba, then to be able to make ps1 games compatible to ps2. Though because of both system's inconsistencies, you have the mess that is the ps3.

Ps3's hardware was brought by IBM and Nvidia (Co-op with Sony and toshiba). Though by the efforts of the new design, the new power bump that the team gave the Ps3 created a vast technological gap with its predeccesor. To Compensate the combo of the new and old, they added the hardware of the ps2 AND ps1 inside of ps3 (The Core Emotion engine and the I/O processor engine). Though because the output is coming out from Nvidia's video card, the programming language needs to be translated to whatever signal it is outputing.

The flaw though, is that individual ps2 games are instructed differently making a chaos in what games might be alright to play on the ps3. Though according to specs, all games should be able to play A-OK. Though again because of the new inconsistent technology that Ps3 is (Its a con and a plus by the way), output from the old generations will have to have a back-seat to what the present will showcase (basically, forget the past, play the new).

So if the games are not resizing, is because truelly is the ps2 inside of the ps3, and that you can't modify via firmware. Though, Sony said that there are developing a simpler ps3 without the extra baggage. The future for the old games will be emulated by the ps3, so thus it will be able to physically output normally in whatever output. BUT AGAIN, its all hardware that you see those games being played, no software only to translate the complicated programing (though software is used to emulate, it really is only compiling data and doing basic emulation).

Ps2 is a bitch people, it really is! I'm glad that sony decided to let IBM help out to work better the damn messy ass system. Though like the transition that Microsoft went with Xbox, is basically the same with Ps3 and ps2. Sony and toshiba was trying to hard with ps2, creating a 128-bit processor that is hard to emulate!

Okay, that's enough with my bad grammer and spelling. Just get the facts right people so I won't need to torture you with my bad grammer!

lol

BTW - Sony will be a challenge, and they aint going down without taking all the stops and pressing that red button of destruction!

A Wii dilemma for Sony (and Microsoft)

Dec 4th 2006 5:09PM (Joystiq)
Sony needs games, that's all there is to it. Ps3 is a slam dunk but like the N64 in the first few months, if there is a drought of games, people will be turned off about the hardware.

What nintendo did is to change strategy, but at its core, its basically a simplified game system. Ps3 is truely a computer entertainment system. Its complexities its what confuses. Thats a good thing and bad.

If the model could have been designed more appropriately for the masses and for a business point of view, then things might have been better for sony. Though my guess its the horrendous arrogance that sony has. The other thing is trying to copy its model from the more successful one that Ps2 is. Though because sony stands as the market leader, they can't copy nobody else but themselves. Now if Microsoft can counter sony's model, sony would simply copy. If nintendo can actually jump to market leader, then sony will copy and counter Nintendo's strategy.

As for a Ps-lite? Huh? That would be stupid. Sony has the potential to take over the world again, and they won't be stupid in releasing a confusing business model to compete against Nintendo.

Though Nintendo always has been genius in coming to risk everything from time to time. Sony simply just mirrors Nintendo's successes. Just look at the PS1 as the prime example. Though, I think its Microsoft time this generation. They have Blue Dragon coming soon, and that will open the gates in the Japanese markets (and my wallet).

Difference between Xbox 360 & PS2 not obvious to Indian reviewer

Dec 1st 2006 3:36PM (Joystiq)
Oh boy, maybe that was the reason why nintendo refused to go all out on the graphics engine because that line is already blurred out to everyone else in the world.

What Microsoft needs to enter furiously into that third international other world, is a mascot that everyone can go about loving. [That naturally means someone that looks non-violent ;) BUT can be strong and violent if need be (IE, Goku, Ryu, Megaman, Mario, Titus, and Sonic)]

That's all the trouble that Microsoft has. Put aside all the shooters, and have something that everyone might go about and be at least happy with. Halo can't shoot into that market, why not something similar to Alice?
