Readers double negate VG Cats as "not not best" webcomic
Nov 14th 2006 5:11PM (Joystiq)I think the comic is lame. Often times the lack of the actual character (ex: Link) makes it hard to connect to certain jokes about games, some comics try to ride on with pointless violence when the joke could be better in another format, the comic often never updates on time, despite the colors the characters aren't as detailed as the CAD and PA ones, many jokes are ruined by overextending the strips or overlooking an obvious joke, some comics are just jokes about things which are already jokes in the game, there is no story or character development, and many jokes could be done better with CAD's "demonstration on noobs" complete with over-voice. Overall, it's just crap that got lucky.
Cheney 2006 Vote: 'It Doesn't Matter'
Nov 5th 2006 3:55PM (AOL Elections Blog)There is some green grass, trees, children playing happily, a clear sky, etc.
Look at your life. Now, you have a well-paying job, you can play videogames and go to baseball games, you can write and read, get food without problem, and you generally have a good life.
Your life is good because you are allowed to make something of yourself, and because you live in America. Yes, contrary to popular belief, Bush and co. haven't made America a hellhole where robots gun down people daily and we live in jail complexes. America is fine: people who work for their money get it, food is in great quality and quantity, invasion is unlikely, and you can do pretty much anything you want.
Now, imagine you have a wasteland outside that is dirty and rough, you don't have a good way to wash clothes, money and food is hard to come buy, you can't do much except work in bad jobs and pray, if you get sick your're in deep crap, your leader hordes all of the money for himself and he kills you and tortures you for the hell of it, etc.
Now, how would you react if someone came by and gave you back (or gave you in general) that american life? If you had a stable economy, good food, plumbing, fresh water, a good job, money, free time, etc. you'd probably be happy. That's what America is doing in Iraq: giving these poor people with bad lives the freedom and success that we have. The people who blow themselves up are extremists, and blowing themselves up is just one way they function. They can kidnap and torture/kill/rape innocents, send death threats, destroy property, and more. Basically, the radicals who blow themselves up are pretty much the equals of thieves, rapists, murderers, punks, and other such people that we have in all of society. These people aren't the normal people in Iraq, they are the bad folk who we are trying to protect the norm from.
So, before you make a statement, rememeber that America isn't a damned land ruled by Skynet that has no freedom and sucks. America is fine, and Bush isn't evil or worse than a chimp. Iraq was a land of our fellow people who were suffering badly, and we assisted them in getting back on their feet and living good lives.
