European gamers enjoying DS browser

Oct 11th 2006 6:17PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
A word of warning to those looking to purchase the browser, due to memory restrictions, it can be very slow.

I'm using it at the moment and to give an example, to load the front-page of 'ds fanboy' with all images (on nicely made sites the browser can freeze until all elements are loaded), WITH a decent connection took about 2 minutes.

Needless to say, using .gif heavy sites such as B3ta is a nono and can completely overload the system memory (come to think of it 10mb seems rather stingy given the performance).

Overall if you are planning on using plain sites such as email then the browser is fine, but be prepared to be taken back to the days of 56k modems should you demand more from the internet. Oh did I mention flash? Sound? Video? No?? Nevermind ;)

Getting the girlfriend to join in (Xbox 360 Delight #006)

Jan 25th 2006 5:39PM (Joystiq)
Me and my girlfriend have a good 'gaming' relationship, unless i'm engrossed in Counter-Strike. We've bought various consoles for each other. She got be a GC a while back after having a laugh with Mario Party 2 and Mario Kart on the N64, she also got me a DS for xmas which a can rarely prise out of her hands thanks to Mario World/ Mario 3 (notice a nintendo/plumber theme).

I've tried to get her into a bit of DM but she's a console lover and won't play anything by 007 Nightfire DM (shudder) as she's good at it. Her excuse is 'poor visual awareness' she got bored of HL2 rather quick.

I've reciprocated the gift, PS2, Rez + Trance Vibrator, the game that keeps on GIVING. I think you all know what I mean :D:D:D

And yes, i do involve myself in my GF's hobbies, be they fetish modelling, buying latex outfits and the like. ;)

Valve angry at Engage's in-game advertising

I HONESTLY hope that Valve are going 'legal' on principle and not just because they want a slice of the action. :(
