Dragon's Lair HD comes to iPad

Nov 2nd 2010 6:04PM (Joystiq)
@TheAngryIntern: I don't think Apple ever called any of their own iPad apps "HD". It's only the third-party developers who think that by sticking "HD" on an "app", they can fool people into thinking that it's super-awesome-nothing-higher-than-1080p resolution.

@Unvrfd: That wasn't the point. The point is this title is called "HD" when the iPad's display is only 1024x768, yet all the "HD" fanboys routinely bash anyone who has a 1024x768 because they're "too poor to upgrade to HD".

So why is 1024x768 on the iPad considered HD, but 1024x768 on a PC isn't?

So where were all these "HD" titles back in 1999, when I had a 1024x768 monitor on my desktop computer?

ARM CPU? Say goodbye to all compatibility with existing PSP games. Good work, Sony.

Bah, of course I meant 6502 has 64 KB address space. (Numerical confusion since the CPU starts with a 65.)

@Faenix: This is like saying it's harder to program a system with 64 KB memory than it is to program a system with 8 KB memory.

6507 is a 6502 with only 8 KB address space (6502 has 65 KB) and no external interrupts.

6510 is a 6502 with extra I/O pins.

Besides those changes, they're identical CPUs.

"Uemura shared how the Famicom came to use its (at the time) unusual 6502 processor."

Unusual in 1981? Considering 6502 and its derivatives were present in pretty much everything, including the Atari 2600 (6507), Atari 8-bit computer line, Commodore VIC-20 and 64 (6510), and the Apple II series, among others, I don't think it was *that* unusual. I suppose this provides some insight into why Nintendo likes to pretend that it's impossible for anyone who isn't them to know how to program their consoles.

Yahtzee HD now on iPad, please don't scream 'yahtzee!' in public

Sep 10th 2010 1:05PM (Joystiq)
I was unaware that 1024x768, a display resolution most of us used back in 1998 when "HD" didn't exist, is now considered HD, especially considering most "HD" fanboys claim that 1920x1200 isn't, since it's 120 pixels taller than the holy "1080p". Any "high-definition" fanboys want to debate this?

@Angelworks I mentioned this before, but the HD fanboys came out in full force and started attacking me for it. Guess they can't handle the truth about "1024x768".

@GmanC aww, did I insult your precious $500 iPad? :(

Truth hurts.
