Jun 10th 2011 7:38PM (Joystiq)Is this a joke or are you just a massive hypocrite?
"You're opinion is subjective, it's not facts"
Is in complete contrast with...
"The thing is the game actually has no problem... people just feel it's old. Is that a good enough reason to rate it so poorly?"
Maybe you should read the review - yes its design is an issue - especially since the game takes the worst parts of old-school and the worst parts of new school and combines them, but the games many technical faults and level design were also heavily criticized
--------
"The word of the standard gamer is what counts, and as the average gamer (who hasn't played Duke 3D), I think this game is well worth the price. "
Nice job on implying your subjective opinion somehow matters more than the reviewers subjective opinion.
---------------
"Every ****ing year they release a COD game which practically recycles the same old crap again and again. They are MILKING the bloody series. The campaign is so short and WAY TOO LINEAR!!"
It amazes me you attack CoD for being linear whilst defending DNF. DNF is incredibly linear...
----------------
'Many people are making assumptions on the quality of the game without even playing it - I have played it and I know what I'm speaking about. Here's a list of underrated games which proved to be successful and loved amongst the gaming community: Mirror's Edge, Brink, Wet, 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Fallout New Vegas and so on...."
What?
"Mirror's Edge"
The critically acclaimed Mirrors Edge with a metacritic of around 80 [depending on the version]?
"Brink, Wet"
Have both been panned by gamers and critics alike - maybe you enjoy those games, but the vast majority [or at least the vocal internet minority depending on how you look at it] dislike those games - the were hyped up because the concepts and ideas behind them were exciting, but the actual game failed to deliver in both cases.
"50 Cent Blood on the Sand"
Has a metacritic of 72 - again - a decent game but nothing innovative or special.
"Fallout New Vegas"
Has a metacritic of 84.
In which way are these games sold short by critics exactly? And how are you qualified to claim these games are better than those that get paid professionally to review them?
--------------------------------
"Here comes a funny game which isn't meant to be took seriously, and people expect it to be of a high standard"
Did you miss the part of the review that pointed out, satirical or not, the game is still competing in the same marketplace as other shooters and thus should be judged at the same standards.
The idea that the game should be excused of its many flaws because it's funny [I would argue it isn't even all that amusing - something the review also claims] is absurd.
------------------
I could go on pointing out all the flaws in your post but I think it's pretty much clear at this point how hypocritical your stance is and how reluctant you are to take your own advice.

Mass Effect 2 composer Jack Wall explains his departure from the franchise
Mar 4th 2011 8:58PM (Joystiq)I'd like to have seen Wall try and achieve what he did with Jade Empire; as you stated a more instrumental, epic score. Mass Effect isn't exactly an intellectual, clever game - it's a popcorn shooter, a blockbuster action movie [sometimes literally] so make the music meet the drama you're trying to convey.

Mar 4th 2011 7:11AM (Joystiq)I hope you mean developers [i.e artists, programmers] and not actual designers because the idea that game design is something that can be taught is laughable...I mean I guess you could learn "design" out of a book - you wouldn't be a good designer but I guess it's possible.
