Sony patents multiplayer stereoscopic system
Jul 21st 2010 3:38AM (Joystiq)The problem with the tech MS is working on is currently its only got a 20 degree viewing angle ala the 3DS. They showed a similar TV at CES with 9 viewing angles...if the person moves out of the small viewing window headaches ensue. They say they're working on a viewing angle of 40 degrees which is a little more promising.
The Sony tech seems to build on the current 3D tech and adds another feature to that shiny new 3DTV you buy this Christmas (or next). Personally I'm in no hurry to buy a new 3DTV just for 3D games/movies but being able to watch 2 different inputs at the same time and local multiplayer might push me over the edge (in the next year or two).
I know if my wife can watch TV and I play games on the same TV at the same time, that would solve A LOT of problems in my house! lol

Jul 21st 2010 3:26AM (Joystiq)Although we know the PS Eye alone isn't as capable as the Kinect as far as full body motion gaming, this game sounds more interesting than anything that was shown by MS for Kinect. Granted I wouldn't buy hardware for this, it would be a cool PSN download to get if/when I decide to get PS Move.
Looks like Sony is beating MS at its own 'game' while offering other types of experiences as well. I'll keep an eye on this, I wanna see how deep this game gets and how accurate the game actually plays. I've played some of the other PS Eye games and saying I was disappointed in them is an understatement.
Sony limiting use of 1080p 3D in PS3 games
Jul 16th 2010 11:50AM (Joystiq)Sorry for the rant...I just hate when people make the correlation that just because 3DS can do it we should have it on TVs in no time...it's just not true. That tech has been around for a while, they used it some laptops in the past. And when the tech finally does come for no glasses needed...expect those TV to be EXTREMELY expensive compared to the couple hundred dollar premium added to TVs now for 3D.

Jul 3rd 2010 6:27PM (Joystiq)I didn't like the art direction/style of the first game but I did like Cole...the new look is more family friendly (generic) but that wont stop me from buying this.

Jul 1st 2010 11:19PM (Joystiq)Hulu coming to PlayStation Network 'soon,' according to Bloomberg report
Jun 25th 2010 3:48AM (Joystiq)If SONY could've had the deal done by E3 they would've stole the show IMO (along with all the exclusive games they announced).
SONY....HULU....MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!

Jun 19th 2010 3:26PM (Joystiq)I didn't even finish reading the rest of your "premium" analogy....my point was just to show the things I think PS3 gamers want in contrast to what SONY thinks we want. The price of course would probably change, they could even do tiered pricing (Silver, Gold, Platinum).
Besides the only thing I'm asking that PSN+ isn't providing is HULU, Cloud Saving, Faster Network, and a Netflix App.....that would not warrant a significant increase in price IMO.
My problem with PSN+ is its double the price of QORE with a few more bones thrown in....if they want to do a PREMIUM service give me some PREMIUM benefits. Everything they announced for the first month of PSN+ I already own and I'm sure most people that they are targeting own as well.

Jun 19th 2010 2:20AM (Joystiq)I'm thinking this may be how they're OS/PSN is setup and it may be a hard work around or not possible at all.

Jun 19th 2010 12:57AM (Joystiq)Second if I ran SCEA (or SCEE) it would go a little something like this:
PSN + ($49.99 - $59.99 per year)
Discounts
Early Access To Betas
Free PSN Game (choose from 3) per month
Cloud Game Saves/Trophies (Be able to use your saves/earn trophies when signed into other PS3's)
HULU Native App on XMB(subscription included when they go to pay service)
QORE
Faster PSN Downloading
Free Wallpapers/Avatars
Netflix Native App on XMB
If they did that, I would be willing to bet MOST "hardcore" gamers would jump on it. As it stands now...its pretty lame.
As for FIRMWARE UPDATES:
Cross Game Chat
Automatic installs for downloads
More in-depth/Customization of Player Profiles (Lots of slick mock-ups online)
Better organization of media (Music/Videos)
New Web browser (Firefox or Google Chrome)
Auto Syncing Trophies
Cross Game Invites (I've heard this is already coming this summer)
If SONY could do these "seemingly" simple things the PS3 and PSN would (in my mind) be, without a doubt the hands down best console to own. And I would be the happiest PS3 owner in the world!!
Am I missing any major things?
