Friday Video: Spore Wars

"is it just me or do they have triforce crests on their caps?"

It's just you. It looks more like the freemasonic symbol of a pyramid with an eye in it (triangle with a circle inside here).

New Tekken 6 screenshots, artwork released

Question to Tekken fans.

I used to love Tekken 3 way back in the day, then I started playing Soul Calibur on Dramcast. When I came back to Tekken 3 I found it so slow as to be unplayable compared to the fluidity of Soul Calibur.

So the question is, are later Tekken games as slow paced as Tekken 3 or are they more quick paced?

BTW, I am not saying that the slow pace was a bad thing, just that after SC I didn't like it anymore.

Lovecraft-inspired PC horror adventure unveiled

"Howard E. Loreid (which is an anagram for "Stock Character")"

No its not!

Do you even know what an anagram is? It's a word/sentence made up by rearranging another word/sentence's letters. So how can "Howard E. Loreid" be an anagram for "Stock Character" when it has no S, no t, no c, no k, two o instead of 1, 1 a instead of 2, 2 r instead of 1 and two e instead of 1?

It's almost as far from an anagram as can be.

VC Friday: Ready, aim, fire vegetable

JC (or other poster), if there ever are demo versions on the VC you might want to make a post of games that we might have missed due to being unsure they are worth the money but that we should check the demo out.

Why not start the list now with Blazing lazers?

Mega Discount Man ZX

Yes! Amazon ships this title to the UK, and given the price difference between US and UK games ($30 ->£30=$60) even with shipping its still way cheaper than the typical DS game over here. Oh, and I don't think it's been published over here yet.

Soul Calibur ... Adventure?

May 7th 2007 11:00PM (Joystiq Nintendo)

There are a lot of black things in the world, and a lot of white things. You might want to consider that if you react that way when there is a remote possibility of racism people might not take you seriously (thinking of you as hypersensitive or reactionary) when you do point valid racism occurences (ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?).

As for this occasion, if somebody spontaneously combust then yeah, their skin is gonna burn and burnt things often are black, so comparing its blackness with a reference in blackness (coal) is perfectly natural.

Now if the author had said "his skin is as black as a n*" or other racial slur I would totally side with you.

I don't think your approach is wrong, just badly calibrated.

BTW, I'm white but did suffer social exclusion during my teens due to my creed, but where you probably had some peers (other black people) I had none (except for my sister with whom I had other issues as teenage siblings are wont to do).

Peace out and chill out man.

Because you need to know more about Medal of Honor

Alisha _Karabinus_.

Yeah, I wondered if it was derived from Carabine, an originally French weapon between a pistol and rifle (longer range than pistol but smaller range than rifle) originally designed for horseback units (hence its name as it was used by Carabiniers) as the shorter barrel and lighter weight makes them easier to use on horseback or motor vehicles than rifles.

I haven't used many firearms (or used them very often) but my father taught me and my sisters to shoot paper target with a small calibre carabine.

Japanese hardware sales, Mar. 5 - Mar. 11: GDC ruined everything edition

Mar 17th 2007 1:22AM (Joystiq)
Hey Ludwig, you put the Wii above the PSP for this weeks sale even though the PSP sold more. You might want to fix that before "people" (i.e. Sony fanboys) start seeing this mistake as Joystiq being "the bias"[ed].

Panel de Pon coming to DS

"This marks the first time we can think of that the same game has appeared on both the Game Boy Advance and the DS."

What about Scurge Hive?

Wii Warm Up: Are you still Wii-less?

Feb 22nd 2007 12:46AM (Joystiq Nintendo)

I managed to get 3 Wiis. Yes, 3 of them.

Total camping time? 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds.

First one was a week after the UK launch, came back from work at 8AM, checked Amazon.co.uk and they had some.

The other two I got last week, exactly 2 months after the first one, on Amazon also.

I knew a couple of friends at work that were looking for them and unwilling (like me) to pay eBay prices. One of them without a computer so unable to check Amazon so I offered him to buy one for him if I found one, put Amazon's Wii page as my homepage and when starting my browser last week was greeted with new stock.

I quickly pressed 1-Click shopping, tried clicking again to get a second one, couldn't. Tried adding it to my basket, it worked. Tried putting two in my basket (to have just one bill), got a "sorry, quantities limited per customer message".

So my advice to those looking for one, keep Amazon as your homepage and don't bother with Brick and mortar stores, there were plenty of great games to play last gen on all consoles and it is unlikely that you played them all so instead of wasting time looking for a Wii, use it to play missed games, it will make the time go faster and this 400,000 a month "shortage" is not gonna last forever.

Good luck to you all trying to get one.
